I personally enjoy watching fighters break other fighters down mentally and physically.taking their will to fight away..Ko's are always entertaining of course but i enjoy 12 rounds of skillful displays.
I was making a generalized statement. Obviously there are exciting boxing matches. But those fights will never get the love that a shootout gets, and that shouldn't surprise people.
Blame Alexander for initiating the hugfest, but blame Bradley for allowing it. He sure as hell could have done more.
Why should he have taken risk if Alexander would not??Alexander is a counter puncher and wanted Bradley to be reckless and foolish but Bradley is too smart for that..IMO Bradley took risk and any moment in that fight that was exciting was because of him,had Bradley done anymore he would have left openings to Devon imo and that would not have been smart..
It wasn't just Devon's fault - do you think all that headbutting is acceptable? something like 6 opponents now? all accidental? please...
I do like bradley apart from that though - he won me over in the fight against Holt.
And i agree, a KO isn't always necessary (Look at Mosley-Cotto, Mosley DLH1, soon to be Mosley-Pacquiao) - i'm just trying to say if people only watch boxing for exciting fights and KO's doesn't mean they're not a true boxing fan
It was Devon's fault the headbutts even happen with all his holding for one,two Bradley is a short fighter and if he gives up his position would lose a lot more it will take away from his strength's which is his height..Bradley's fast feet get him inside ya guard so to say and then guy's feel the need to punch and heads come together..You can see the difference between an intentional butt and an accidental one and as we seen Bradley has never been penalized for headbutts so what does that tell ya..
What about Mosley Hoya 1,Berto Collazo,Khan Maidana, ect ect..These fights had drama because there were two fighters willing to fight not just because someone got wobbled or got KO'd or knockdown..These fights had two guys who both refused to lose..If ya have a guy not giving his all for fear or being uncertain it's not both guy's fault..I understand it was not the best fight but why does the guy who was taking risk(Bradley)get any of that blame??

I agree the fight Sat was not the best one we have ever seen, but come on ask ya self why??It was Devon's fault put the blame were it should be on Devon..He quit he got his azz beat and was not willing to go balls to the wall..Bradley vs a fighter who is willing(aka Khan/Maidana)would be a great match up because of the willingness to mix it up and take risk..I believe this is all he is trying to say is that ya don't need a KO for a fight to be good or great..

Notice how everyone in the crowd sits while fighters are just boxing? But when someone staggers, gets hurt, or gets dropped, the whole arena goes crazy? That's what they came to see. Adrenaline makes a crowd pleaser, and it's not there when 2 guys are just flicking jabs at each other.

i've got nor argument with that - i was really glad the fight took place. im just saying fights like that one are no good for boxing
and many 'boxing fans' need to get off their 'i appreciate the sweet science and i enjoy boring fights so i'm a better boxing fan than you MMA lovers' high horse

but we called for the fight, we want the best to fight the best. we got that last saturday. im good
I'm good as well not Bradley's fault Devon did not want to take any risk and fight with no fire..

I have just one thing to say
Hagler-Hearns. No skill - just three rounds of beating the **** out of each other. That fight will always be remembered as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
But i suppose a 'real boxing fan' wouldn't enjoy that and would much rather see Mayweather-Baldomir? After all, Baldomir was the undisputed WW champ and Floyd put on a clinic right?
SMH. This is the real reason boxing is declining - tons of hype followed by a sh*t boring fight. Just imagine a casual fan is interested in something like Bradley-Alexander, and then sees a terrible fight - why should they bother watching boxing again?

While i do enjoy watching skillful performances for 12 rounds with no KD's - it's KO's and exciting fights that MAKE boxing
Alexander the Twat vs Bradley sucked
and this thread sucks
boxing is about action, punches thrown and landed
it's not ballet
Typical Pactard response.
All of a sudden Pac countrymen think they know boxing. I almost cant wait to Pac retires so these "fans" can go away.
Anyway to answer the TS.
They dont appreciate the true science and art of boxing.
They need to find a street fight site and watch those videos.
Cuz' most of the time they are boring.
Its why I don't take Calderon seriously as a fighter. I view him as a minor sideshow until the REAL fighting starts.
but it wasnt due to bradley..alexander made it a snooze fest wit his pitty pat combos, his unwillingness to engage.his holding..he fought scared and it showed..he was tight and saw something in bradley he didnt expect and wasnt preparded for..i saw it before the fight..cunningham kept talking for him..if you are american and your trainer has to talk for you theres a problem..alexander is youg and still very green..bradley is prime ripe and ready..big differance
Bradley was taking so much risk and once he saw that Devon did not really want it he took his foot off the gas and was coasting to victory..I do believe he was to step on the gas for the Championship rds tho,I really feel like Devon was tired and ready to be put to bed that's why he wanted out of the fight..I hated the end of this fight because it took away from Bradley's dominance with all the headbutt chadder..
I enjoy Andre Ward, Bernard Hopkins, and of course Floyd Mayweather. Most of the time, I like watching a fighter get figured out and broken down better more than someone just getting punched real bad. There's no way Manny doesn't entertain u, but skilled boxing like that has no equal to me
Because they are MMA fans at heart,if you love boxing you love the fine art yes KO's are exciting but a great fight were both man are still standing after 12 is just as good imo..
Yes but i can't appreciate him throwing loopy punches and alexander not capitalizing. The fight was an ugly one sided fight.
Like i said earlier. i give props to bradley but this fight was garbage. Its not like a Floyd, younger Hopkins, whitaker schooling where i can appreciate the boxing clinic and give serious prop too. This was just an ugly one sided beatdown. There was just too much hugging in this fight to actually appreciate. It was a snooze fest all over.
