I thought it was a great joke...after all, the situation was pretty hilarious, especially seeing replays of it.
but do people ACTUALLY, seriously think that Cintron leaped out of the ring so that the fight would be stopped? I really dont get how you could ever think that.
First of all, he was winning the fight and his confidence was up after landing good shots.
second of all, do you have any idea how impossible it is that he came up with the idea of jumping out of the ring while they were in the middle of a fight and tumbling around in the clinch?
and for those that think that Cintron faked the injury when he fell out of the ring...
better call Hopkins a ***** too.
Cintron leaped out in my opinion. He did get his legs tangled but it seemed like it was an over-reaction by him. The way he landed is suspecious to me.
I don't think he jumped out to get out of the fight, but he sure as hell looked like he jumped out on purpose. He probably landed more awkward than he expected too and then took advantage by exaggerating being injured.
He clearly looks like he jumped out. Nothing about the situation would have forced him out of the ring like that, he clearly plants his leg and pushes off.
No, but for whatever reason, he didn't want anymore. He was doing well in the fight so it made no sense for him to quit. That whole debacle was just weird.
tou cannot go into a fight looking to jump out of the ring. not even Cintron would think like that.
and to say that he thought of it in that brief moment while he was on the attack is...ludicrous.
I didnt see Williams 'turning it on' at that point. I saw Cintron on the attack though, and having his best round.
I don't know, it's not as stupid as the TS might think. Looking back at it, you can see cintron's left foot using some strength to push himself forward at the very end.
I doubt that was the case though. However, the injury was totally fake. I think he fell out of the judge's table on purpose though.
Watched it again and it really does look like he jumped out purposely 100%. It certainly sounds crazy but look at the video, he's not being thrown all that way by Williams. Did he go there with it all planed out, no, He thought of a way he could get out and possibly win and he took it. That fall could not have been that bad.
Plus I have heard no injury report or update on his condition any time recently, it just seems he's miraculously able to fight again and wants Berto.
cintron jumped, he knew williams was warming up
hopkins jumped too, the man had his balance just outside of the ring then decided to roll off..
these guys r pro athletes with excellent balance we suppose to believe they just dropped out the ring?
if they got knocked out dempsey style fair enough, atleast he got back in the ring even after landing on typewriters!
maybe they were afraid, maybe they were attention seeking, either way they done it on purpose!! ;)
Exactly my man,Dempsey was a real fighter and real fighters get back in the ring and fight even if they fall out! He would have to be seriously hurt to not get back in the ring,it all goes back to mental toughness! Can you imagine Joe Frazier falling out the ring and not getting back in,unless he was really genuinely hurt? HAHA NO WAY! :P
The argument would be that he won the fight up to that point, felt Williams turn it on and didn't feel up to the task, took a dive and decided to stay down hoping to get the decision.
And to be fair, if the judges were competent, he would have gotten the decision.
Maybe memory serves me wrong, but I thought Cintron blasted Williams with the biggest punch of the fight right before the accident.
I've heard the argument that Williams was turning it up, but I didn't really see it.
I think I had it even on points at the time of the accident, but... I can certainly see a Cintron decision, and cannot see a Williams decision... at all.
Well the fight was just starting to heat up. He knew that if Williams got into his rhythm, he would have rained punches on him maybe even worse than Margarito did. Theres a gif that shows Cintron (in slow motion) exaggerate the slip, look at the ropes and proceed to jump out. Hes known for these kinda things. Just like when he fought Martinez and was knocked down with a clear straight left hand and said it was a headbutt. And to the people who thinks it ridiculous because Cintron was ahead before the incident, i actually think he wanted to take advantage of that and bail out while he was ahead.
lol @ "he knew it was coming." Watch the fight man, paul was fighting extremely cautious, he wasn't fighting his typical pressure style of fighting. He wasn't applying pressure really at all.
And if kermit was so scared of this pressure because he knew it was coming, WHY DID HE SIGN THE FIGHT?! Why did he rematch Margarito who was the king of pressure?? Kermit wasn't afraid of paul williams man, or else he wouldn't have taken the fight. He didn't need to sign the fight there was no demand for it or whatever it was totally his choice.
poor logic comrade
not at all,i can tell your in denial,no offence! Kermit fights because he's a fighter,no prize fighter can really be a coward, that's just something fans say who've never bern in the ring before! I said he was a drama queen 100%,not a coward! He knew he was ahead after 4 rounds and looked for an escape! Signing a fight is what fighters do,every fighter who has half a brain always goes for the biggest fight or payday, duh! Anyone who ever gets in the ring is scared or nervous at some point, but that's only something that you either can control and mentally block out or u can't! Like i said, and i'm not trying to sound like a tuff guy prick, but i can tell that you have never been in the ring b4 and you don't realise wut can go through a fighters head and make them pull tricks! Kermit is a fighter no doubt, but he is not strong mentally and he loses focus! He thought he could trick his way in taking a win by his falling out the ring and faking injury,100% i believe IMHO....
Oh btw kermit is tall but not as tall and reachy as paul, williams was being cautions early cuz he knew that kermit would be more dangerous the first half,i believe paul was looking to measures cintron, and if the fight would have kept going i think paul would have found his range and rhythm better and start to break down Cintron later on,just my 2 cents!
Cintron vs Pwill 2 would be nice. and in no way did he jump!!! maybe on the ground he didnt wanna get up... dont matter he knocks berto out when he mans up.
Is this really happening?
People really believe that Cintron purposefully jumped out of the ring?
oh boy....
I guess it makes no difference to you guys that Cintron had just buckled Williams and was going after him at that point?
cintron jumped, he knew williams was warming up
hopkins jumped too, the man had his balance just outside of the ring then decided to roll off..

He said after the fight that he thought he had 5 minutes to recover. California is a clown commission, they bungled the situation and rushed to judgment.
Just like they did with Margarito.
Yeah but didn't he also deny being KO'ed by Martinez?
Cintron is weird. But maybe he's telling the truth.
He looked for a way out because he knew he was winning, I scored all 4 rounds to Cintron prior to him flying out, And i actually pick him to KO Williams by the 7 rounds after watching the way he was tagging Williams with ease but i had NO doubt that he KNEW what he was doing.
Who knows. The point is he faked being hurt in order to get out of the fight, and that makes him a quitter.
It's so obvious, Jump to 1:03. No way he could have been hurt from that, it's freaking insane to think so.
