What if all 4 were in their prime, and had a tournament, who would come out on top? I know Katsidis is a lightweight, but just imagine him at 140.
All 4 are known for their exciting, no quit styles.
I think Hatton would come out on top, with Gatti being 2nd place, then Katsidis or Ward for 3rd.
edit:
as expected, most people are picking Hatton. To those who didn't choose Hatton, let's not forget that he only lost to the top 2 P4P fighters in Mayweather and Pacquiao. How would Gatti/Ward/Katsidis do against Mayweather and Hatton (we saw Gatti/Mayweather)?. Hatton fought Floyd at welterweight, one weightclass above his usual weight. Also, I still believe Hatton's chin was no longer the same after the Tszyu fight. He easily ate up the hard punching Tszyu's right hands. How was he able to take Tszyu's punches easily, then next he's getting hurt by Maussa and Collazo (I admit, Collazo is naturally about 2 weightclasses bigger than Hatton)? It's like Hatton left his chin in the Tszyu fight. Oh and there's also Hatton's lifestyle in between fights, gaining so much weight and losing it fast over and over would tax the body.
By Lazcano, by Collazo.
Hatton sucks. Gatti and Ward are Sugar Ray Leonard by comparison. Both could actually throw a straight punch and go 3 seconds without falling into a long bear hug.
you realy know your boxing don't you ? Dickhead.
I can't believe how much you guys are overrating Hatton.
Honestly.
It may be proper to call Hatton "overrated" when comparing him to the top p4p fighters, but to Gatti and Ward? Eh. I'm going to watch IP Man with ALIENVIRUS then go to sleep, night.
Hatton. Gatti and Ward provided a lot of entertainment but they weren't really top level fighters, Katsidis has fallen short at the top level too. Hatton at his best was a level above these guys.
Of course you can't. Because you think Hatton was a bum who was worse than Gatti.
Hatton was a degree shy of a bum.
Without Frank Warren, that degree would've been negated.
Gatti's prime weight may have been the lower weightclasses, but consider the experience and skills development throughout the later stages of careers. Sure, Gatti was a really good slugger, but he learned to box pretty well later on.
I don't think Gatti really learned any new boxing skills at 140, he just went back to them more. He was in a boxing mode at 130 when he won the title from Patterson.
People seriously need to reassess what B and C level fighters actually are. Hatton was A class. You don't win fights against Tszyu and Castillo or pitch shutouts against Malignaggi and Urango if you're just average. Hatton's only two official losses are against the two best P4P fighters of the last few years, and no one can accuse him of having a weak resume.
I agree 110%. Hatton in his prime is an A class fighter. It's just Pacquiao and Mayweather are A++ class. Hell, the Hatton that fought Pac/Floyd wasn't even prime anymore thanks to his blowing up in weight lifestyle and Tszyu.
ww was def too high for him but I thought we were comparing primes.

Just the thought of putting in a 140lbs Gatti (who was still damn good) in against Katsidis/Hatton @ 140 would make for pure excitement. That's really mostly what I had in mind when making this fantasy tourney matchup because all fighters (except maybe Katsidis, we don't know yet) are certainly effective at 140, though I expected Hatton to be a clear winner.
Gatti won world titles at 130, but later on he won a world title at 140 AFTER that vicious trilogy with Ward. I would say Gatti @ 140lbs is near prime or prime.
How does one or two bad rounds against Lazcano equal getting handed your ass? Gatti had bad rounds against B fighters all throughout his career and himself was barely more than a B fighter at his very best. He was never in Hatton's league.
lol... I understand you're British, but you need to either A) rewatch that fight and watch Hatton get destroyed and saved by the ref or B) get glasses.
Well, Gatti was definitely effective at 140, he was world champ there. He's definitely able to compete at 140. It was welterweight where he never should have touched.

holding a belt at 140 does not equal being prime or close to it. He got kod by tata of all people. He had multiple wars pre 140. Wasn't his best weight for a tourney. Hatton would blow through him, prime at 140.
hatton stops gatti on swelling and cuts after beating him up
katsidis he'd bash in something awful
and ward he'd swarm and outwork pretty easily for a decision. nobody knocks out irish micky ward.
ricky hatton is a sure fire hall of famer
he lost to ATGs and nobody else
and that was when he had seen better days
he cut his run short with his lifestyle
Hatton was a good B level fighter. The other 3 are/were exciting C level brawlers.

Lulz at the ts thinking gatti was in his prime at 140.
