Because I thought they were both fighting in the same class. And I thought Coralles was most effective at 135 for his career. Once he went up past that he was ineffectual. (see clottey fight)
JMM on the other hand is a career featherweight. 126 pounds.
Going up to WW is 147, which makes 21 pounds above his natural career weight.
Who is at a bigger disadvantage?
Floyd vs. a guy his own size?
OR JMM vs. a WW?
Don't worry, I won't put you on ignore if you own me.
He fought 2 fights with Casamayor at 130. If I remember right, his fight after Floyd was at Junior Welter
His fight after Floyd and jail, you mean. And it was junior welter... 136lbs.
Do you think he enjoyed it the four times he did it after the floyd fight going 3 and 1 at 130??

Ok dont buy it. Corrales enjoyed making weight. It was a piece of piss.

Your reasons have nothing to do with the Mayweather fight. Sorry, I'm not buying that he was so bad he managed to go back to that weight three years later against the elite. You don't have any "reason", just like you don't have any "visual evidence" like you stated you did.

Yeah....for the reasons I just stated.

manny wants to fight jmm at 147--5 more pounds than what jmm weighed in for floyd--
coralles won more fights at 130 after floyd dusted him--it's not shocking that manny pacfag fans on here try to discredit floyd's win over him--i mean, he couldn't land anything on floyd---
and floyd was going through legal issues before he fought corley, bruselles and gatti and he dominated those guys easily-lol
legal problems have noting to do with training and getting yourself ready for a big fight--it has been done before--nothing new--
floyd was just masterful that night--clear as day--
coralles wasn't weight drained either--not like you folks think--floyd was having trouble making weight at 130 and was still effective there---had coralles not fought at 130 after he fought floyd, your arguments would be better, but he did fight at 130 and won fights after he fought floyd--
make no mistake about--floyd's skill level is on another planet--he's just that damn good-
That would make sense if they just brought it up after he got beat down but it was made known to everyone before the fight.
I believe he hired a new nutrionalist before the Casamayor and took the weight off better. Just because he made the weight easier against Casa doesnt mean he didnt struggle for the Floyd. You gotta consider he had a lot of other things on his mind.
That's great Dirk......want to know who Chico's nutritionist was for the Floyd fight??
.........none other than Alex Ariza himself.
He sounded like a man that wanted to move up when he said he wanted to move up. I dont doubt he changed his mind when a big fight/payday against Mayweather came about. I assume that also accounted for his going back down to fight Casamayor. Needs must.
What about the few fights at 130 before the Casamayor fight?? Corrales has only ever been efective at 130 and 135.
For the life of me I would never understand why people say Corrales had trouble making weight.
After the fight he went to jail for a year and cameback and fought at 130 again after being 1 year in jail. He fought few more fights even going 1-1 with a very good Casamayor at 130. Like 2 years after Floyd. So I just don't get that. He just received a beat down from Floyd. That is all.
And, then also I don't get the whole bringing up unofficial weight. As far as I know it is unofficial, there are no rules to how you have to weigh-in, I don't even think you have to weigh-in TBH, as far as I know you can wear shoes, clothes, jewelry, rocks in your pockets, whatever. There is no rules right? So we really don't know how much fighters weigh on unofficial weights. We never get to see them weigh-in to see if they strip down to make it more of a fact that came in the ring in 145. But, maybe they do I don't know.
I kind of wish they did go back to same day weigh-in. And, stop all this day before weigh-ins. Jab made a great point, there are too many weight-classes close together. That you shouldn't be weight draining yourself anymore. And, also it would eliminate catchweight fight that people are against.
Thankyou. You have saved me from having to point this out. A quick check on boxrec (yes i used boxrec you self righteous cunts :nana:) and we can see Deigo beat Casamayor at 130 in 2004-03-06. He lost to Floyd at 130 in
2001-01-20. So three years later he beat Casamayor at 130. Yet he was so weight drained in 2001 he had nothing for Floyd??
In actuality Floyd was struggling to make 130 also. He fought two more fights at 130 in the same year he beat Corrales, then made the jump to 135 saying his body could no longer make 130. Also a few months after Corrales beat Casamayor at 130 in 2004, Floyd made the move to 140.........
If you actually watch the fight Floyd did beat him down, but Corrales also landed one big left hook and one big right right on Floyd's chin which he shrugged off....and he wasn't missing by much either. Floyd just controlled him with the jab, and later the lead left hook. Corrales also didn't have the greatest footwork when moving in which is why he went down alot....off balance.

Yet he didn't.
Mayweather wanted at 130 like Corrales did. Corrales was stripped of his title and filed a lawsuit because he didn't want to have to give it up. Does that sound like a man ready to move up?

Like I said, Mayweather wanted the fight at 130. Maybe he did struggle to make weight. But I think Corrales' situation was worse given what else he had to contend with. Wasnt he 2lbs over at the weigh in?
I dunno, ive kinda lost interest with this debate. I think its fairly obvious that he didnt have the best camp and had difficulty with the weight being a 6ft tall Featherweight and all. You lot think its some conspiracy...whatever.

You claimed you physically saw him struggling to make weight, how is the claim that Corrales struggled to make weight any more valid than the claim that Mayweather struggled?

Ok and yours is? Oh yeah...all you do is try to pick at other people's arguments without ever forming one of your own....LOL how could i forget.
LOL, sure Dirk.
