Ok first of all what fuking rule book states anything of the sort and I would please like you to rationalize to me "why" it makes the win irrelevent especially since it had zero impact on the outcome? We live in a day and age when boxers have more than 24hours to rehydrate themseleves and gain massive ammounts of weight after the weigh in so again how is this not a ligitimate win at junior middle when the man he was fighting was a fuking super middleweight come fight night?
The win was legitimate. But Manny is not a legitimate champion at 154.
Because, he still didn't win it at the limit if it didn't hold any irrelevancy than fight him at the limit for fuck sakes.

It doesn't really matter what we think about such issues, the sanctioning bodies give them to and take them from who they want.
Just look at the way the WBC forced Bradley to pick a title to defend and get stripped of the other. Why? Because they wanted Don Kings guy, Devon Alexander, to have the belt.
And look at Chavez jr. The reason they stripped Martinez in the first place was to try to give Chavez the 160lb title and have Martinez be the 154 champ. Martinez pulled the checkmate and chose to vacate the 154 and keep the 160 title, knowing that Chavez cant make 154.
That would mean if Chavez wants a WBC title, he'd have to fight Martinez for his strap, right?
Wrong. Instead, the WBC is going to "promote" Martinez to a "super champion" status, give him the WBC Super Champion 160lb belt, and give Chavez Jr the "regular" WBC 160 belt that belongs to Martinez.
Gotta love the **** these guys make up. Remember the Diamond Belt?
As for Pac, I would give him the respect of an 8-division champ if he had defended the title against Sergio Martinez, who is the real owner of that belt.
But I've come to expect very little from most boxers.
If so, why? was margarito a legitimate contender? does a catchweight of 150 give merit to it?
if not, do you think he should forfeit his belt?
the belt can't get any realer in terms of the weight class, the fight was held above 147, but 4 pounds short of the limit. But do I care? I can't say he didn't get the belt in the weight class, but I can dispute how he got it, ya dig it man? as far the contender, nah Margarito was not a contender at 154, but then again pac wasn't a contender above 135 when he fought oscar or Marquez wasn't a contender above 135 when he fought Mayweather, its just the way it was set up, atleast he didn't pull a 140lber to challenge for the 154 strap.
Why do you keep leaving at the part where I say that the catchweight is completely irrelevent and had no negative effect on the fight. For fuk sake!
Because, he still didn't win it at the limit if it didn't hold any irrelevancy than fight him at the limit for fuck sakes.
Then it means it has never been done.
Pac is the first one to ever win a title that way.

Floyd will have to fight Roy Jones Jr, Bernard Hopkins, and pull Joe Calzaghe and Tito Trinidad from retirement, then weight drain them, dictate his terms to them, pump himself full of special cocktails and once he beats them then he can be as good as a Manny Pacquiao.
It would be "entertaining". The media would love it and be behind him 100%.
Everybody gotta admit that this made them LOL!!
Aww c'mon Dazed...Rocky V! Don't tell me you haven't seen that one...
And agree that a paper title is a paper title....what I was referring to is that at least Manny beat Cotto (who was the holder of said paper title) while the 154lb belt was vacant and basically Manny's to p/u (while paying the sanctioning fee)
You kidding? I stopped watching after part IV.
Yeah, I hear you. Cotto's title was basically a paper one since he got it from fighting Michael Jennings after PW was stripped. That's bad but def not as bad the manufactured 154lb title.
So...A fight for a vacant title, in a weight-class where neither fighter has put in any work, and at a catch-weight.
Has never been done before. Gotcha.
Yes it has except the catchweight thing but then again the catchweight is irrelevent so what exactly is you beef? I still don't see why Pac is being singled out here.
The only won thats questionable is his one at 154 and more than likely he will legitimize it down the road by beating a top guy/champ at 154.
All this other stuff about his other titles being paper belts is straight up hating.
But when your on the top and as successful as Manny has been, haters will always come up with something.
I agree with this. I think the whole 147 "paper" is bs, lets assume he beats Mosley and Mayweather stays "on vacation" who the hell else has better claim to be the man...Berto? The guy who hasn't fought any of the top WW's?

The catch weight once again is irrelevent and usually the fighters that are given free passes at vacent titles usually havent won 10 world titles combined. Small detail you may have forgotten about.

Is he the first fighter to win a vacant title at weight that neither fighter has really put in any work and to have it a catch-weight to boot?
