Before I say this I want everyone to know this isn't directed to the entire message board but rather to the guys who repeatedly rip on these fighters for opting to take a fight for more money instead of fighting the most qualified person right away and for those who rip in the fighters who have one bad fight then say he's finished and he suucks.
Ok I just had to hang up my skates due to a nagging knee injury that I've had since I was playing juniors then college and my whole pro career. I finally am working a regular 8 hour day or more and listening to people who have never played a competitive sport and a top level in their life constantly passing judgement on pro athletes makes me laugh. I know everubody is entitled to their opinion and that's ok but when you stat to say that a fighter sucks bc he had a bad night or bc he opted to fight someone who brings more money to the table that just baffles me. You do know that this is how they make a living and they are just rtying to look out for theur familys future so their kids don't have to fight or at least have an option to do whatever they want. The next time someone starts a thread that has the topic of someone sucking or anything like that ask yourself when the last time you did anything on the same level as him or piut in as much work and sacrificed as much as pro athletes have to get to where they areand if you can honestly say that you have done as much or more than him then write whatever you want
This is exactly what im atlking about. You prob dont know too many pro athletes but in order to reach the pro level you sacrifice alot. As a young kid you don't have a regular life where you can go hang out with your friends and family everyday, you live in the gym or in my case on the ice, I had nothing but hockey 24/7, no christmas w my family, no going to prom or any of tha during high school, at age 15 had to move away from my family and went to live with a boarding family in canada. Now that's just some of the stuff im refering to about sacrificing
You definitely made some difficult choices, but I would hardly call those sacrifices. You also told us that you have no regrets and that you loved playing...so...? How do you get to call them sacrifices? At best, I would call your decisions a sound work ethic or investment that may not have paid the dividends you had hoped. One sacrifices things such as dreams and aspirations, time with family and friends, his/her life or endures tribulations for honor, love and the edification of family or humanity; and the sacrifice always involves giving overwhelmingly more than receiving. No, I am sorry, but you don't get to call those choices, even though you may have occasionally questioned individual decisions, sacrifices. Athletes are not martyrs nor should they be made to appear so.
It seems to me, though, that you are wondering if your endeavors were worth the effort and adversity. I am sorry if things did not pan out, but it was a gamble that could have elevated you to a superstar. It may be unfortunate, but they were not sacrifices.
I don't like rap music or find it entertaining so i don't spend money on his music so therefore I have nothing to complain about.
so you do think they suck?
do you think lil wayne does not suck?

Wrong Athletes are involved in compatitions of Athletic ability that some people find entertaining.
You know how many boring ass football games I went to in my life? An you know how many people complained and demanded their money back? none especially if the home team won then nobody fuking cared if the score was 6-3.
do you think lil wayne does not suck?
athletes = entertainers

the customer is always right. an athlete is selling his physical prowess and athleticism in a game. if said athlete fails to entertain the fans, his customers, the fans have a right to complain.
No they have the right to not watch them fight again! All your money entiltes you to is to watch thats it! Remember it's a compatition not a rock concert again if you want Athletic entertainment then go watch WWE where the matches are corographed and the out come is predetermined.
"but my biggest pet peeve is when a never had a fight in his life, log wart coward calls a man that has fought his whole life a coward, ***** or any other name."
great line...
athletes = entertainers
i can say wlad is a boring ***** just like you can say lil wayne and soulja boy etc suck ass, which they do, major ass at that, major donkey hole ass

.If an athlete fail to become competitive in HIS sport then paying fan's can say their displeasure about the athlete's performance.
Now this is exactly why I hate sports fans! Your Money doesn't fuking buy you that assholle!
Your money entitles you to one and one thing only. To watch the fight!!! If you want predetermined outcomes go watch WWE. If you are not happy with a fighter then don't watch them fight! Don't go to boxing matches and don't buy PPV's nobody is forcing you to pay for them. It never fails that idiotic sports fans somehow think that they are the lifes blood of sports.
Uh, that's a diva mentality right there. 'Sacrificing'...what? Athletes get paid to play. Play, or if you prefer 'compete'. I ain't suggesting that it's an easy life, but it is a life that you and other athletes chose for whatever reason, pay and glory probably being chief among those, so don't wave that banner of sacrifice here. You get paid to provide entertainment. If it were not for the fans, some of whom you deplore for their criticisms, you would not be getting paid at all. It is an easy and convenient argument, but it is no less valid for being so. Suck it up.
Now, I agree that it is somewhat classless for fans to deride or execrate an athlete for one performance or irresponsible comment or action. Remember that, with rare exception, athletes get into the action for either love of sport, money, fame and legacy or all of these things and do not give back to their communities. I don't know that it should be required or expected, but it is worth keeping in mind that they are making these efforts for themselves, not for others. Pacquiao is one notable exception. He does so much for his people that he transcends sport and becomes a humanitarian; a philanthropist. It's not like most are trying to change the world or even their corner of it. Their sacrifices are not nearly on the level of military personnel, firefighters, police, rescue and other types of relief workers who labor for the benefit of others at meager pay and high risk to life and limb. I do not begrudge these athletes, but I am not according them more respect than the average person for so doing.
So please, enough of the sanctimonious ranting. Sure, fans can be boorish sometimes, but many athletes get paid more than enough to keep from whining about it. Those that don't? Well, maybe they have not sacrificed enough quite yet.

yea, but when you're ice skating competitivey, don't you have to face the best in your area or the best in the world to be considered a champion?

Gd thread and some posts too.
Some ppl literally live on forums...if it don't make money it don't make sense IMO..I'm talking bout YOU not pro boxers.
Chase ur dream u only get one life maaaan
Green K's comin up when im on comp, it's hard to do on iphone
You won't get many responses here. Great post though
That's why pro athletes dislike most fans in general. Its just part of their job to smile and sign autographs.
I agree bro, these FeeMen on this board kill me also. But I'll say it is a 2 headed coin, and at times they are rite.
This is not going to look good but, i for one give fighters like Floyd a pass. Atleast he tells you that it's all about the money, but the other guys put up this "I fight for pride, or I fight for my people" shyt.
Then turn around and haggle about giving the other guy 50/50, threatening to walk if they don't get the lions share.
If it's about the money just say that, don't put lipstick on a pig and tell me it's Miss America.
but my biggest pet peeve is when a never had a fight in his life, log wart coward calls a man that has fought his whole life a coward, ***** or any other name.
