If Hopkins could somehow drain himself to make 160, he'd get stopped. Too weak and Martinez is fast and strong enough to do it.
If Martinez decides to move up, he'd likely be too small. Just not reasonable.
If they were able to somehow meet, at this point, I'd pick Martinez by small margin, in a decision.
Hopkins would obviously make Martinez come up to 170 where Martinez would be at a disadvantage. And while Martinez is uber skilled and sexy and Hopkins is old and ugly my money would be on the old Welshman. He'd hang back and wait for Martinez to engage, then lurch forward with a right hand/clinch everytime Sergio throws a lead left. He'd also be continually pressing Martinez back against the ropes where he'd maul him and catch him with uppercuts and bodyshots. Martinez has the speed and awkwardness to catch Hopkins but he also has a habit of clashing heads with a lot of fighters due to his style, and it wouldn't surprise me if he got badly cut or swollen from old Hopkins' giant chrome dome (with Hopkins tacit compliance of course).
Would have been a great fight. How about 2005 (pre Taylor) BHop vs current martinez?
... and no, no way could Hopkins make 160
Prime against Prime I think Hopkins wins fairly easy.
sounds stupid,I see someone comment seeing hopkins and martinez fight on youtube thought no way can they could ever meet. Martinez going up to 170 seems less mad though, can't see why he would.
