Considering the Hopkins vs Pascal fight tonight, did you agree with the official verdict of a draw, or do you believe one fighter should have emerged the clear winner?
pascal won, easy work. only reason the poll be in hopkins favour is becoz there is more americans on this board than canadians
Did Pascal win i never saw the fight. But BH is something else still doing it at this age. My theory is that BH will live to about 130 so he is only just about approaching middleage now at 46.
But that dont explain that BH lost when he was young quite a few times?
I came out of the fight with the feeling Hopkins "won", but my scorecard added up to 113-113. Hopkins simply had more of the fight go his way, but those two knockdowns (which were legit) hindered his great performance.
I have probably the most unbiased view in here, because I dont really care who wins the fight.
But hopkins was the clear winner on this one. the 2 KD which i counted though i thought 1 was legit, wasnt enough for 8 rounds beat down by hopkins
Hopkins by 114-112 (THAT IS THE RIGHT SCORE)
So you scored it 114-112, so would you consider a 113-113 a robbery or a very slight difference of perception?
What I don't understand is how anyone in here can scream robbery when the fight was so close. Almost everyone who scored the fight who knows how to score a fight scored it either 114-112 or 113-113. Punchstats mean squat as there were rounds that Pascal hardly threw a punch. He lost those particular rounds accordingly but those have no bearing on the rounds he had some activity that he may have swung with a rally.
Hopkins won 8 rounds in my book. Fans who can't understand that a knockdown is only one point kill me. Yes you can be knocked down and win the fight. It's pascal's own fault. He knows he lost. The kid got schooled!!!!!!!!!!
Robbery is strong. I have no problem with it being a draw. That would be 7 rounds to 5. No matter the outcome, bernard just enhanced his legendary status.
And when an american judge scores it one round away from a draw in favor of the american fighter, you know that the fight isn't as easy to score as some fans would like to prentend.
not really....the american scored the fight right. i love it how ppl keep saying, "a round switched, and the fight WAS a draw."
bottom line, the rounds weren't that close (except 4) where they could go either way.
i gave pascal 1-4 (with round 4 being the only close round, if you watched the fight, and paid attention to punches landed and wasn't influenced by crowd noise), and i gave hopkins 5-12. 2 point victory.
bernard did not win the fight
he was knocked down twice he had to perform miracles to get a decision against the champ in his hometown
this is common sense people
and one judge even scored the fight for bhop when they could have quite easily favoured the champ
do people even know what a robbery in boxing is?
watch Chavez vs Whitaker if you don't lol
Maximum amount of rounds Pascal could have won was 4. This fight was the FOTY IMO until the judges ruined it by robbing Hopkins.
Who ever thought that Hopkins had one more good fight left in the tank? I know I didn't.
First of all the first KD was to the back of the head. Then B-Hop won every round except the ones he got KD in. Pascal wasn't doing anything except maybe the first 4 rounds after that domination by the old man. Pascal is a bum who just got lucky Dawson slept on him that's all.
I don't understand why people are claiming robbery so much. Ok, Hopkins appeared the more dominate fighter. But people seem to be forgetting the KD's.
You could argue Pascal was 5 points up going into the 4th, where from there on in Hopkins did begin to dominate, but even still he had to claw his way back from already a big point deficit and you could have easily given round 12 and another close round somewhere in there to Pascal.
Performance wise Hopkins deserved it, but that seems to be blinding people when judging round by round.
good of you to put your score up.
I had it, on first viewing (pascal score first)
1: 10-8
2: 10-9
3: 10-8 (Hopkins had better of round but KD'd)
4: 9-10
5: 9-10 (v close)
6: 9-10
7: 9-10
8: 9-10
9: 9-10
10: 10-9 (v close)
11: 9-10
12:9-10 (but v close)
114-112 Hopkins. Couple of close rounds that could have gone to Pascal - he did land the harder shots it seemed but was outlanded in all rounds past round 3 I think
That's almost exactly how I had it, except I gave the fifth and the twelfth to Pascal. So with the knockdowns, I had it a draw. Hopkins arguably clean swept the fight after the fourth.
I did not know the outcome, just downloaded at watched it
R1 10-8 pascal (50-50 on the knockdown, not sure if it was legit or not, good cases for both sides)
R2 10-9 hopkins, really tight round, could go either way
R3 10-8 pascal, Hopkins should have been deducted a point at the end for hitting after the bell
R4 10-9 hopkins
R5 10-9 pascal, like the 2nd round really tight, could go either way
R6 10-9 hopkins, pathetic round by pascal, poor work rate, its like he is the 45 year old
R7 10-9 hopkins, total domination
R8 10-9 hopkins, tight round, could have gone either way
R9 10-9 hopkins, pascal may have won the last 30 seconds but Hopkins won it for me in the first minute
R10 10-9 pascal, again like 3 of the earlier rounds, tight but I think pascal did enough to win this
R11 10-9 hopkins, both landed good hits but Hopkins activity won this round for me
R12 10-9 pascal, landed the cleaner shots for me took this round imo
113 pascal
113 hopkins
Honest to god, I did not know the score before hand and just watched the fight, I had it a 113-113 draw but either guy could have won it by a point in this one
