A prime Ricky Hatton probably would have finished Khan last night in the late rounds with pressure and being on his chest for 12 rounds. He would have finished him when he got buzzed.
Maidana is a great fighter but for someone who actually doesn't do much his stamina is shockingly poor.
He relies too much on closing down the ring and landing the big blows but doesn't have the stamina to do it and relies too much on power.
Khan was moving all night, and even though he started to gas in the late rounds his fitness is exceptional.
I'm dissapointed Khan didn't go for Maidanas body mid rounds, but obviously there was method in the madness.
Khan traded and took some huge shots and stupid uppercuts and he took them. I give him lots of credit for that.
Khan beating a prime Hatton? Come on, Khan's defense on the inside is HORRIBLE. He caught Maidana with some uppercuts when Maidana was coming in, but once Maidana got close, Khan was clueless. Khan's footwork isn't good either, constantly retreating in a straight line and then getting trapped on the ropes.
Hatton had MUCH better footspeed and was better at cutting off the ring than Maidana.
The Hatton of a few years ago would hammer Khan.
amir would batter ricky hatton on the way in
ricky's only chance would be to maul him and tire him out
your comparison is rediculous
maidana is a TNT puncher / stalker
he's a knockout artist inevery sense of the word, he doesnt try to win on the cards
he looks for an opportunity to stop you whenever that might arise
maidana cuts the ring off to land, not neccessarily to pressure
ricky was a mauler without a huge punch
he wore guys down and turned it on late and applied pressure
Maidana would knock Hatton out. At 140 Khan has a better chin than Hatton.
Lmao that is a silly assumption to make. Hatton would beat both of these guys in his prime. I keep hearing Khan will outbox these elite fighters, he didn't 'outbox' Maidana in the later rounds. The pressure of Hatton would get to Khan, there is no way he survives the 10th round with Hatton.
Maidana lost the leverage in his punches in the later stages.. it arguebly cost him the fight to. Khan was in all sorts of problems after 10'th round, Maidana just didn't have the pop in his punches to do more damage to him, it was frustrating to watch for him tbh. Maidana looked to tired to finish it off, although he showed the desire to try and put him out, he was very close.
Credit to Khan for pulling through, he shouldn't put himself in this posistion in future fights though.
Prime Hatton would have been an interesting match up with Khan. early Hatton had a great chin, and was even more relentless with pressure fighting than Maidana. not sure about the power, i think Maidana has heavier hands, but he's a lot slower. Khan should have been able to outbox prime Hatton and win a UD and possibly knocked him out the way Mayweather was able to but that's only if he was ouitworking Hatton all the way through 12 rounds. Hatton was a little beast in those days, the Collazo fight proved that, i dont know why so many write him off as a bum these days. he never had any problems about moving up in weight and fighting bigger guys when he was the money draw. he could of had ridiculous cath weight demands. anywyas enough about Ricky, Khan and Maidana was a great match.
Finally, someone who actually knows something about boxing.
I'm sick of these part-time kiddy followers on here, who think they know what they're talking about because they've got Boxingrec and Youtube bookmarked.
What so someone agrees with you so they know boxing and people with an opinion different to yours dont.Typical NSB
Let's be clear here, what you saw last night isn't Cortez's reffing style, it was based on who Cortez was being told to favour. Go watch Calzaghe v Hopkin where he let B-Hop hang on to him all night.
With regards Hatton/Maidana, Hatton would've massively outworked Maidana and wouldn't have let him breathe from the opening bell. He had the ability to beat him on the inside and the outside.

Hatton would have got hurt and done.
His style is not good with Cortez.

what pot have you been smoking today? Prime hatton had one of the best chins in the sport, he got as far as he did because of his chin. Ever watched the urango, kostya tszyu, collazo fights? Hatton had never been down until he faced mayweather.
yeah sure he did... Because when he finally fought someone decent he got ktfo TWICE....... Costa tsyu is hattons best win and he is not all that i love ricky but i disagree
ricky hatton would have got ****ed up by both maidana and khan
The only view you have of Hatton is of his last 3-4 fights. If you followed his career there's no way Maidana would beat a prime Hatton...absolutely no way.
im not too sure about that.... hatton as much as i like has nowhere near as much natural ability as khan and theres no way hatton would have had same chin as maidana let alone get up from that bodyshot..... hattons too one dimensional , would have been countered all night
