I am not like most Americans, thinking we are the best country in the world, but I DO think we are a damned good one. There is no 'best' in the world because there are too many facets to judge by.
I am not quite certain where this rancor against the US originates, but I have suspicions; and none of these can be laid at the feet of the average citizen, especially those who did not support (read 'vote for') the massive, reckless policies held and perpetrated by the previous administration. Do not paint us all with broad strokes because we vary state to state, region to region.

I think its because its a country under a federal system, wherein each state is autonomous to a certain degree which allows for each state to have its own commission.
