Mayweather is a counter puncher and by being one he has his opponents walk towards him rather than vice versa, it's easier hitting a target coming towards you than moving away and you can throw your hands with more conviction.
2 common opponents who both walked Pacquiao and Mayweather down - Oscar De la Hoya and Ricky Hatton, I believe Manny looked faster in the two of them compared to Floyd. While Pacquiao was the aggressor against Marquez, Marquez was forced to take the lead and come forward against Mayweather resulting in Floyd looking faster.
Also, watch Floyd coming forward and throwing punches, looks a lot slower than Pac.

keep in mind Marquez was a slow WW and a fast FW.
I'd say the velocity of Mayweathers punches are almost equal, but he can't put combinations together.
The key word you're looking for here is "Timing". Mayweather doesn't have faster hands than Pacquiao but what he does have is faster reactions and pinpoint timing.

That's like comparing Ben Johnson's(I intentionally picked a steroid user) stride vs Usain Bolt's. Johnson takes faster strides but Usain Bolt still beats him because he has a longer reach. Not only does Floyd have longer arms but he also has better legs. Manny's legs are explosive for 1 or 2 steps only whereas Floyd gracefully moves around the ring with constant great speed. Floyd dominates.
What have you seen, that makes you feel from Pac that this is even remotely true. When Pac was in the ring, when a guy with a high boxing IQ, his speed, chin and unorthodox style were the things that saved him. Marquez schooled him for much of the first and second fights. Pac boxing mind, is nowhere near Floyd's. Floyd's boxing IQ is the highest in boxing...PERIOD! And it ain't even close.
By the way, I'm not saying it might not be true, but what attributes does Pac have, that Floyd has not seen.
You do realize, that Floyd has a lot more that Pac hasn't seen than visa-versa, right?
What im saying all of Roachs knowledge has translated into pac. He executes what Roach thinks and that has been more than enough.
FLoyd has more than Pac hasnt seen? Well, Floyd has been accused of not fighting that many great opponents, so that in itself tells me he has avoided seeing a lot of things.

Argreed......
Floyds hand speed has never seem to stand out against the people he fought. But he is fast at seeing danger, and getting out of the way of situations. His mind is fast more than anything.
Pacs mind is comparable as well, and Pac has attributes Floyd hasnt faced. Meaning it should be a tough match to call. So many ifs and buts make it interesting. He punches nervously as well to me, as if he hasnt got faith in his punches.
I think Pac would win.

I think Khan has faster handspeed than both, when Khan vs Bradley is done, if Bradley wins Pacqiuao should fight him and if Khan wins he should fight mayweather.
What the difference is between the two is, Manny is a combination puncher. Floyd is not. Therefore, Manny is going to be naturally more fluid with his combinations than Floyd. Overall speed would be, for me, a push. Dont forget to attribute Floyd with defensive speed also. Which is far better than Manny's.
If they ever do make it happen, I dont see Manny's speed being an issue for Floyd. Floyd is so quick and times opponents masterfully. Floyd's defensive speed will be the only "speed" issue relavent.
Manny hand speed is better than Floyd by quite a bit.
Floyd's timing makes him seem faster than he is.
Ask yourself this; When has Floyd ever overwhelmed his opponents with speed at any point in his career? Also when has any opponent ever walked away from a fight with him telling others that he was "just too fast"?
To me that tells me everything I need to know about which one is faster.
Exactly!!!

That's why Floyd's ducking in all his might!! He's scared!!

smh, every boxer who fights Mayweather says he was too fast, but they give credit to his skill more than anything. Mayweather is faster, when will people realize that he will always beat you to the punch. He will always hit you before you hit him.

Virgil Hill said Andre Dirrell was Faster than Andre Ward but Andre Ward was Quicker than Dirrell, i think the same applies here with Manny being faster but Floyd being quicker.
If u dont understand the difference go and ask ur daddy
