While everyone was looking past Jason Litzau, talking about his slurred speech and all this other bullsh*t, I was telling anyone who would listen that 130 was too big a jump for a guy that had made 122 with no problems recently. I understand that everyone was ducking Caballero at 122 and 126, but putting him in with a banger two weight classes above where he's the champion was a foolish move. Now that Cab took the risk and lost, big money fights with Juanma and Gamboa are gone, and the 34 year old has to rebuild. Thanks alot DiBella.
Now he's whoring out Sergio Martinez's lineal MW title to anyone with a pulse at 155 pounds. Lou's catchphrase is even: "He'll have to kill himself to make that." Why is it that all his fighters have to make concessions? Sergio is P4P #3 and the real MW champion. There is no need to devalue him for Cotto, Chavez, or whoever else they are targeting. And when Sergio loses because he was drained, what will DiBella say? Remember, he was 176 pounds 30 days out from a 157 lb. fight. Lou's a nice dude, maybe too nice, but he can't negotiate for sh*t. I hope Berto and other fighters in his stable leave.
For those who is saying he's not the best, who is? Arum by creating crap fights with his own guys and is doing little to reach a mainstream audience? Goldenboy who creates horrible pay-per-views, couldn't sell tickets for JMM-Kats, and pays Hopkins to run his yap? Gary "I've never jogged in my life but always wear jogging suits" Shaw? Goosen?
Arum screws people over. Goldenboy is a joke. And all the others are smaller outfits like DiBella. DiBella seems to be the most straight up guy, and he does damn well with what he has.
Couldn't agree more.
ugh... then why hasn't berto fought a top 5 WW yet?
Because Ross Greenberg is afraid HBO is losing its African-American base, so HBO will pay Berto whatever just to keep him around and happy.
They tried to make a Cotto fight, but couldn't pay him enough because he's already getting over a million bucks a fight against bums.
martinez has not maximized his earning potential. dude is charismatic and has a pleasing fighting style. I don't think he's ever been in a boring fight. why isn't guys beggin him for a fight instead of him begging others for a fight? I blame dibellla.
As do I. Green K.
I'm not trying to totally sh*t on Lou, but he hasn't made the best decisions for some of his fighters. I find it disgraceful what he's doing with Martinez as well. Just my opinion.

Lou does a sh*t job at promoting fights but he does put his fighters in with top guys
That good for us boxing fans but doesn't help get more attention for the fighter and more fans for the sport
All he needs to do is promote better
paulie basically promoted himself. he did all the talking.
taylor is lucky he got HBO backing. he's in the same boat as berto, except he took the meal ticket instead of asking for more than he deserved against hopkins.

They must have been with DiBella for a reason no?
If Caballero couldn't hack it against a fringe contender like Litzau at 130, he couldn't hack it to begin with, end of story.
This should've been an easy fight that Caballero ended up pissing away by his unprofessional attitude.
I agree with you on that one but I blame HBO in throwing money at a guy that's relatively unproven.
I'm talking about guys like Paulie, Taylor, Green and Martinez who in a short few fights have made big names/ nice pay days for themselves.

it's not dibella's fault caballero sucks. don't try and pin it on dibella. all dibella is, is the liason with HBO.
You should work on reading comprehension
I specifically said it probably wasn't DiBella's choice and you say I am pinning it on DiBella?
Not sure how you came to that conclusion.
DiBella got him a Mosley fight. Not Lou's fault that the untimely desire of some distant relatives that Berto had never met caused him to back out.
dibella should've told berto to not demand the lion's share with mosley in the 2nd round of negotiations.
that was a dumb ass move

Picking Litzau as an opponent was a poor decision but it was probably not DiBella's choice.
If Litzau is anything, he is big. You don't move up two classes and fight a guy who is huge for that division... Especially if your style and success has always depended on you being at least 5 inches taller than your opponent.

lol and because of dibella martinez will make more in his next fight then he has made in his entire career
martinez did that all by himself by performing in the ring. dibella didn't do jack **** except call HBO and collect a check.

Dibella is a god awful promoter. The only advertising I heard about Martinez vs Pwill was on boxing sites on the internet. It didnt suprise me when they released the numbers for the gate at the boardwalk and it was something like 5000. 5000 for a fight of the year candidate is a pathetic joke.
To sum it up, Pacquiao has made more in his last fight than Martinez and Bertos entire career put together.

Pound for pound he is the best promoter in the business right now.
He puts his guys in high risk/high reward fights.
