What's worse than Hernandez only getting paid 75k to Berto's 950k?

What happens when he's brained damaged? Like I said.. listen to his interview in the video section of this site... What's he gonna do? Besides pump gas or work at McDonalds? Not even being sarcastic... dead serious. When he's 50... he will be broke as it gets, with possible health complications... He has to make this money now, and it has to last him.. Well anyone who climbs into the ring AM or pro risks brain damage. A 15 year old kid at my local club died 2 months ago from a sparring session. The risks there for all of us who fight. The Fighters have to have the sense, and listen to the people who care about them, to know when its time to bow out. He could do the same job as me. If he needs the money, no shame in what i do and it pays the bills But i feel like im defending the high earners here when im not, Boxers deserve their money and often ALOT more of it, especially when u look at other sports. I jsut dont pity the guys when they are making so much more than me for doing something they love

Jason i really like btw. After he has made his money in boxing theres nothing to stop them getting a job to keep cash of some sort coming in. While he has big lump sums coming in he can set up buisness of his own even? And fighters love to fight, i fight for free and if Jason wasnt a pro i bet he'd still be taking head shots but as an AM without pay I do hear u tho man and its not fair a hardworker who brings it like Jason gets paid 50k when Berto is pulling in 950k for an easy showcase when he dont even have a big fan base What happens when he's brained damaged? You want to know the difference? Two things. One.. he dedicates his entire life to a sport. While you may be working on education.. or working up the ranks at a company, increasing your pay one step at a time. All he has is boxing... and when that is done.. What does he do? He has to make as much as he can now, because that money has to last him.. or he will be a broke bum for the rest of his life. While you will steadily make paychecks for the next 40 years... Litzau has to make all the money for his entire life in the next 10 years.. and it has to last. The second, and maybe most important. Is he fights for a living. He takes punches to the face for a living. Putting his personal health at risk..... for a living. He is already showing signs of slightly slurred speech. ...how about the 6-8 weeks of training camp? A boxer isn't paid for the fight. he is paid for the camp, for his recovery time, etc. also, he is likely giving 28-33% to his manager. He has to pay the trainer and other seconds. He has to reimburse for any overages from his training camp allowance, etc. The boxer is self-employed, so unlike you, he pays BOTH sides of the SSI/MC taxes (currently 15%). When you hear "$50K", please recognize that figute gets cut down by A LOT. While I agree with the actual take home pay being way less than 50k. I disagree he isn't paid for the fight. Sure, the training leading up to the fight or recovery time after.. sure. But you are also paid for the fight, paid to perform. Ask Arum if he feels that way after what Clottey did against Pac. He got a million dollars... theres over a million people watching you. You are certainly paid to fight.

The HBO pay structure is messed up. If I was a guy like Devon Alexander I would be wondering how Berto can get 900K for fighting Hernandez. Devon has been fighting good competition and now he will be fighting the best in his division (Bradley) for $1.1-1.2 mill. You can't even say that Berto is the bigger star. Alexander got 10,000 in St. Louis. Berto couldn't sell a 1000 tickets. So it isn't about the tickets, tv ratings, etc. It is all about Haymon. If I was a boxer right now, I wouldn't worry about which promoter I have but whether Haymon is my manager.

not that you don't know this and apologies if I am coming off as a know it all but let's hope the effort Jason put forth results in him getting a better scale for his next fight I have a feeling if he isn't offered the Cab rematch we might see him back on small budget TV which would suck IMO 50/50 split for a Cab rematch would net him 125k, a 150% bump. that to me is fair 6 figures sounds great to me... sidebar did you see Larry give Lou the thumbs down after the Cab fight? loved it Yeah, at first I thought he did it to Jason for interuppting.. and I was like well that was a prick move.. and then someone on here said "no if you look you can see hes doing it to Lou for crying about the decision"

The real problem here is Berto earning $950,000 for knocking out a vastly over matched opponent who didn't stand a chance in hell of winning. HBO are a disgrace for awarding Berto huge paydays for fighting no named, B class opposition. Boxing is in the gutter right now and it needs all the big fights it can get. Sadly, Berto making $1m, means HBO have $1m less to invest in quality broadcasting.

HBO and boxing in general tends to reward EVIL. And PUNISH the GOOD. Its a microcosm of everything that's wrong with society in general. Its the same reason Justin Bieber is a "star"... apparently you do all things considered look it would indeed be nice to reward those for the effort they put forth in the ring and like the UFC have some type of monetary compensation to match what a fighter does but this is still a business Yeah, a business of guttersnipes. and to be honest well deserved. How else would you explain the Michael Trabants and Norberto Bravos being used on HBO as opponents for Berto? That has more to do with boxing being run by guttersnipes, than any actual merit to your argument. In any other sector of society, this would be called exploitation or slave labor, but boxers don't have anyone standing up for them so in boxing its called a "tuneup"..
