Personally id like to finally settle the dust w/ Pac/JMM rivaley. I think JMM really deserves this fight, the man has paid his dues.
Berto in the other hand imo would need to fight and beat at least a Mosley or Clottey to make this fight more viable and interesting to the general mainstream fans.
JMM deserves it.
i would rather see Berto take on the upcoming 140 pound tournament winner (although still unofficial).
good win tonight for Berto, but the opponent in front of him was no where near Manny's level.
There are two sides to this discussion. Personally, I think that WITHOUT QUESTION, the next opponent is either Mayweather or Marquez. A prime example as to why? Look at the results for the Berto fight on this forum and then the Marquez results. Notice which thread has the most views and replies?
However, I don't REALLY want to see either fighter face Manny Pacquiao next. For me, it's either Floyd Mayweather in the middle of next year, or Manny take a year off or so and let Alvarez build and have a big fight. Last chance a Mexican has at beating Pacquiao or Manny goes out the way he came in. Then, retires either way.
Just my take personally. Caleno is young enough to bounce back if he loses and a new star could be born if he's able to pull off what I think would be considered a huge upset.
JMM because of the better opposition and crowd. Berto needs to fight bigger stars, the guy he is fighting isnt enough to convince alot of people, it was a big mistake but I cant deny him of having a shot either
I don't know, I just can't see Berto Beating Pacquiao. Berto isnt a 15 round fighter like pac, and Berto can't stop any decent fighters, only bums.
Marquez is a more significant fight, but we'll know the out come in the first round. If Marquez can still hurt pac, it's a fight, if Pac is too strong and fast, Marquez will be gone in 3. It's a significant fight but it could be a one sided domination for Pacquiao.
Pac vs Berto will be good for 3 rounds, Berto lands his right cross a few times, makes the crowd go o0o0o then Pacquiao dismantles him and stops him inside 8 with a brutal finish.
Berto, I would certainly pick Pacquiao over JMM at this point (even though I thought he barely lost the second fight), especially at 147. Pacquiao is better than he was during their last encounter and has moved up better in weight, Marquez is about the same and is overextended at welterweight.
