Mexico is second in boxing behind The USA

I'm not talking sh-it but when I see 4 Mexicans fighting for a championship in Japan and talks about Segura fighting in Puerto Rico and Margarito going to New York to fight Cotto This is why I think Mexico is second best country in boxing behind the USA it seems Mexicans ( lower weights) are more willing to go abraod I mean Hozumi Hasegawa never defended his title outside Japan. Ivan Calderon made his career in Puerto Rico but that should not take away from the fact that there both great champions Caledron is a HOF but Fighting once in awhile away from where you are from is good to and It seems Mexicans are great at doing that and Las Vegas may have alit of Mexicans living there it is still a neutral site but this is a little ridiculous these are scheduled for this year and next year Juan Carlos Burgos vs Hozumi Hasegawa for the vacant WBC Feather Hugo Cazares WBA superfly vs HiroYuki Hisataka Jorge Solis interm WBA superfeather vs WBA superfeather Takashi Uichiyama Tomas Rojas WBC superfly vs Nobuo Nashiro- never fought outside japan for a title

So Mexico has produced approx 116 world champions with a population of over 103 million. PR has produced approx 47 with a population of only 4 million. Do the math, in proportion, it's not even close.... Mexico has a great boxing lineage and I, like most latinos, respect that; Mexican fighters will go wherever to fight, no doubt - PR fighters also fight in Mexico...it's called Vegas. This rank order "Mexico #2" is irrelevant... What PR have done is pretty crazy but Vegas is no Mexico thats were the money is

I agree,Mexico is tailing the us in Champions. If Puerto Rico wasn't a U.S common whealth then the island would be likely be #1. More champions per capita. It could be argued that PR is part of the U.S.A(greatest Country) so therefore we are #1. I think I used the wrong title my point is why so many Mexican go abraod to fight yet PR and Japanese fighter almost alway stay home I used Ivan Calderon and Hozumi Hasegawa also if you look at the Mexican vs Puerto Rican Rivalry only 1 fight comes to mind that happened in Mexico that was Raul Perez vs Wilfredo Vasquez Hugo Cazares fought 5 times in Puerto Rico and also 3 times in Japan I think it's harder to go to someone backyard win and Mexican are more willing to go abraod than most from other countrys

Lol hanging on to daddy's hand now huh. It could also be said that PR's aren't latinos then, and if that's the case per capita is out the window. If you guys want to consider PR part of the US now, cool. Mexico the greatest boxing nation in Latin America, without a doubt.

mexico is better in world champions but most ppl value a higher weight class prospect more than a champion in the lower weight classes I agree to a certain point cause Latin America Asia and Africa produce more lower weight fighters and I think that they follow more there fighter then heavy weight from other countrys come on who the fucc would see haye vs Harrison again

You do have a chance to have a fight robbed by shady hometown judges (Ruiz - Valuev, Diaz - Malignaggi) but some of the time you just a relatively weak champion that only has drawing power in their home, because they are not really that world class to begin with. Again, another example would be Santos - Alcine, or Caballero vs """""""Somsak Sithchatchawal"""""". The NBA comparison is more akin to a Tournament, like the Super 6. Montiel is on the top of his game. He should fight Nonito, eventually. Montiel will fight him next have my fingers crossed nothing happens till then awesome fight I also want to see Juanma vs Gamboa Segura vs Gonzalez

Do you remember when the LA Laker won there 3 championship Shaq said that it was a good win because they did it in anothers teams home court. I did considered the violence but if pinoy come to Mexico so can PR and Japanese fighters plus Tecate and Corona sponsor boxing matches now and TV Azteca and Televisa are fighting it out right now I think JCC jr is with TV Azteca and Saul Alvarez is with televisa so right now there big money to be made in Mexico plus the Hozumi Hasegawa fight with Montiel and Burgos are not PPV Oh and Morel Puss-y out big time he would only fight in NY Atlantic city True, with boxing being embedded now even more in Mexico, and Tecate the major sponsor in boxing, there should be more fights there. Never really thought about it like that but very true, Pinoys do it, why don't others. Segura should flex some muscle to host it in his home state of Guerrero. Acapulco isn't bad.

lol Fighters that go abroad, in my eyes, much of the time go to grab a championship from a "suspect champ" over their territory. That is basically the whole Celestino Caballero BS game. Other example, Daniel Santos over Giovanni Parisi. So it's good that you cheer up your Mexican fighters and all. But going abroad, IMHO, is not that big of a deal. Finally, Calderón (which I hate) fights here in PR because that's the only place he can really make a buck. The guy made a living being a Janitor or something of sorts in Guaynabo, if I'm not mistaken, before boxing. He needs his money, that's all. I seen it here I think, its because Morels dad was talking alot and the Montiels felt disrespected and said something in that regard. Didn't say much at the press conference, just reminding Morel of the type of violence that goes on in Mexico, to watch his mouth. And suddenly like a week or so later Morel pulls out due to supposedly an injury, and Montiel ended up fighting Torito Concepcion. I will try to find it but im on my droid.

I would have to say, maybe its better economically to fight in PR or Japan. Plus right now how the media is all on Mexico, they probably wouldn't go especially now. Morel was going to fight Montiel but pulled out last minute to supposedly an injury. IMO I think Montiel scared him when he felt disrespected by Morel and reminded him of the violence that goes on in Mexico, because after that Morel was injured. But I think that some Mx champs should have some pull to be able to host a fight in Mx.
