THIS IS WHY ALL MY PINOY BROTHERS HATE SERGIO SO MUCH:

"It's ridiculous," said Martinez, who did not ask for a catchweight before dethroning Pavlik at Boardwalk Hall last April. "I had to accept it for this one or otherwise there wouldn't have been a fight. But I don't believe in it.
"Personally, I'd be ashamed to ask for a catchweight. I would never do it. If you want to challenge someone for their title, be a man and fight at the right weight."

While neither Martinez nor Williams is fond of the other, there was more acrimony than usual in the lead-up to this one because Williams insisted on a catch weight of 158 pounds -- two under the middleweight limit -- since he'd been training to fight at 147 pounds. Martinez countered by saying he'd be "ashamed" to ask for a catch weight if he was challenging for a world title.

However, Martinez, who barely made the WBC’s mandatory 30-day weigh-in limit by tipped the scales at 176 pounds four weeks ago, is not happy about the concession.
“I think, as a man and a fighter, he should be ashamed to ask to fight for a world title at a catch weight,” Martinez said through Lewkowicz at the final press conference on Wednesday. “I would never do that. I would allow the champion to weigh in at the division limit.”
Whats wrong with catchweights anyway? Its a way to make fantasy fights a reality. If Sergio is calling out FMJ, should he go down to 147? Its not going to happen.
Do you think pacman vs cotto/margarito/clottey can be made at pacquiao's best weight at 140?
I dont care about the 8 division belts that he got. i only want to see good fair fights. If 2 boxers agree to a certain weight that would be fair for both sides, bring it on.
how can YOU say pacquiao's best weight is 140 when Roach says it is not.
Do you know manny better than roach does?
You stupid Fucks. Sergio just shited on both Mayweather and Pacquiao, and rightfully so, the two so called faces of boxing are fucking pre-madonnas. It's a discrace that people see them as the Man, when there are true fighters like Martinez around with the nuts to step up to the plate as well as speak their mind. You clowns arguing to defend Pac and May are pathethic, give it up, they're just two really good fighters but nothing out of this world. If they finally grow the balls to fight each other you guys can't claim that either one is the greatest for beating the other guy, as all you do is sit on here all day long bashing the other guy saying his accomplishments are worthless, so if your guy beats him then it shouldnt really mean shit. Continue owning yourselves on a daily basis Fuckers.

how can you hate the man for speaking the truth? manny has been fighting his last 2 opponents in worthless catchweights, why didn't he fought then in the normal weight class?
yeah only in your threads though..Official lists are going to be.
#1 Manny- ouch !!!!!
#2 Sergio
#3 Floyd- ouch!!!!!!
Does it pain flomos like you to see Floyd @ #3 that you rather not have him on the lists at all?
Funny, funny, funny.
You can make up your lists but officially, popularly, and recognizably it would be Manny, sergio, and Floyd pare.
No one cares if Sergio is above Floyd. You have to stay active and fight to remain on the list. Floyd has been number one or two since time immemorial, and stays there despite being inactive. He retired and was there as soon as he announced he was back basically. Martinez just beat up Kelly Pavlik (former UD MW champ) and P Williams (twice in my estimation) at a CW that didn't favour him. He also clearly beat Cintron. Sure i'd prefer Floyd to keep his number 2 spot (he prob will on most lists) but if it's Sergio usurping him, i could care less.
This site sucks
hmm w/ 17k posts under your belt, it'd be hard to believe you and would otherwise think you're having the time of your life here :D
so really what you're saying is we as fans cannot quantify this hard work that was put into making weight. that we just have to go by what the fighter and his camp says right? thanks again! :fing02:
This site sucks
I'm not mad at him, i'm actually happy for him for KTFO of P.Will. In regards to catch weights, it's been around before i was born, and i'm much older than Manny So as far as i'm concern, if anybody is hatin on Manny about catch weights, then they should hate on other past ATG fighter that have done them, not to mention Floyd himself that fought JMM and made JMM go up two, count them two weight classes over night. From LW to WW.
And again, rehydrating doesn't compensate for the hard work that is put into making weight. If you want to think otherwise...go ahead, PEACE.

Manny was going up in weight so the fight can be made. i dont see anything wrong with that.
i know the reason why Sergio doesnt like catchweight. because Manny set a high standard fighting bigger guys. now if you want to prove you are truly great he has to go up weight divisions and fighting bigger guys. or he has to go down and fight Manny or Floyd let say in 152 lbs. He was asking Floyd to fight in Sergio's comfort zone and you think thats fair? GTFO! Sergio is scared of a competition.
so you FAILED again TS.
I don't think I'd ever see Martinez ask for a catchweight or decline better drug testing. Fact is, both can learn from him.
So now Martinez is on roids too?
:lol1:
yeah we also should learn that losing 2lbs for a catchweight fight where you can hydrate in 24hrs, like the pac-cotto fight, really wont affect you.
thanks :fing02:

What a minute stop the choo choo,
Paul didn't have to give Martinez a rematch he WAS the man LOL ,he could have said up your HBO.
I am on my way down to 147 lbfor a fight with packman.
I see Martinez is not being grateful here.
