Anyone hit with that shot would have been in trouble.
Paul was winning the fight until that point, he was far too aggressive. He made a mistake and Martinez was able to land his shot.
Williams will be back he is still top P4P, and holds a 12 round decision win over Martinez do not forget.

Sergio will toy with Paul again. Paul has already adapted to his style, tweaks will not do an awful lot at this point. Watch Quintana too, he lands those same lefts to but Martinez just so hits harder. You'd have to be a damn idiot if you think putting him back in the mix with Sergio is a good idea. Paul needs to build himself back up again until he steps up again, he doesn't belong in the elite category.
yea i know that a third fight right away wouldn't be good for him. In another thread i said Paul should get a tune up fight in 3-4 months. Then fight somebody like yuri foreman, miguel cotto etc. then we'll see how he does from there. If his confidence and everything doesn't look shook then Martinez should let him get a 3rd fight.
Martinez lands those lefts the first fight. but he put his whole body in this punch and wasn't even looking. I dont know. Im still shocked by it i guess lol. need another day or 2 to let it soak in.
i bet my house if there was a third fight Paul wins. Was just one of those 1 in a million punches Martinez landed not even looking.

Why was it an off night? Sergio continually landed those type of left hands in the first fight, and stunned him on several occasions. Maybe Williams can do better in a 3rd fight, but he will still be getting hit with left hands throughout.
PS: He doesn't deserve a 3rd fight.
he deserves a third fight more then Marquez deserved the fight with Mayweather.

Williams need to stay out of the spotlight for about a yr. Also, he needs a new trainer to keep him from being so wild. I know he's loyal to Mr. Peterson, but he might need to hire Emmanuel Steward or join Mayweather Sr or Freddie Roach. Takes time to lose flaws, so join them and have about 3 fights with C level fighters.
Can't believe he was talking about fighting Mayweather or Pacquiao, but Martinez is really good. That knockout kind of reminded me of Pirog-Jacobs.

It would be fair to argue that he was 'winning the fight until that point' if he had a few rounds safely put away...and was credibly winning. He was ended in 1 minute 10 seconds into the second frigging round.

Williams' chin has been deteriorating for a while now and has finally been shattered. He will be relegated to official gatekeeper status from now on.
Willams focused too much on conditioning and not enough on technique. You can have all the conditioning in the world but if your technique is no sound then you are suseptible to your opponent's offense...
What he had was this KO coming....he needs to start using his advantage in fights. For a guys his size he gets into too many brawls making himself too close to his opponents where his advantages become his disadvantages.
He k.o'd Cintron and had Pavlik in serious trouble in the later rounds.
His power is no joke.
46 wins 23ko's cintron was a draw and kelly didnt fight in what 4 yrs an he suspect
Honestly he didnt ,and thats my boy now i know you saw the 1st fight an the lack of adjustments made in it , maybe this is exactly what he needed to focus on defense not blindly banging out with everbody ,an would think that would happen with him going up in weight , fight night he weighted 168 ,thats super and when was the last time S.Martinez ko'd anybody

yeah damn near had his head taken off.
look, bottom line, if watch the replay, which i'm sure we all have, but it is exactly like donaire ko over darchinyan, look at williams hands when he was throwing, williams was throwing with reckless abandon with zero defense in mind , he made a tactical mistake and martinez looking to exploit it.
it wasn't an off night, it was on oversight in defense............. and a style match up that gave him troubles......
