with all the excuses he made in not wanting to make the fight happen and one of them being that the fight had to happen at 158 pounds or the fight won’t happen at all and things like that. The rules and the weight classes are in place for a reason and for him to want to fight outside of those rules just doesn’t make sense to me. That really surprised me about him, I thought that he was the type of fighter that would fight no matter what but that’s not the case, but it is what it is.
Id have to agree what happened to the "badass throwback" Williams who just wanted to fight? Hes getting KOd this time in a very sexy manner I might add..
GO MARTINEZ!!!
:boxing:
what's ridiculous about williams' catchweight demand is that martinez doesn't really have any size advantage over him.
^^^^^^this. And they pretty much fight in the same weight class, it's not like they need to meet in the middle. But what's more surprising is how he got Martinez to agree to it, Martinez signs the contract and then complains about it...wtf? Sorry, I like Martinez, but it's pointless now.
Yeah, the Punisher was wrong for the catchweight, but catchweights seem to be the in thing right now,can U really blame him!!:boxing:
That sounds hypocritical of you, innit?
Can't argue with Sergio - this is a case of Williams' handlers using their pull to get favorable terms for their fighter, who probably still has thoughts of moving down for Manny/Floyd. We shall see, we shall see...
I agree with Martinez, but its far too late for that.
He didn't believe he'd have difficulty getting down that far? Martinez is a muscular stocky guy. Williams on the other hand is a twig. No way should Martinez accepted this fight at a catch weight if Williams can already make MW easily.
the most feared man in boxing needs a catchweight
lol
The Irony right? I could see how he would be worse than Pac and Mayweather put together, Right now i cant fault him because he's fighting the fights that we wnt to see him in but as soon as he gets to the top he would demand more stuffs than Pac or Mayweather.
Come on Pull..
It's the principle..why ask for a catchweight yet constantly holler about having 3 weightclasses shook?..
this forum is over run by pacquiao fans thats why they don't see a problem
The best thing about the catchweight is that Martinez is at more of an advantage is anyone has one. Williams isn't the bulkiest guy and he's shorter than Williams He'll most likely make the weight just as easily if not more easily.
Lame move by Williams, I don't like catchweights when only one fight likes the idea. Like when Manny does it, or when Floyd tried to trick Marquez with his, then was a full-blown Welterweight anyway.
Ehh, at the end of the day... MARTINEZ WINS.
Just because Martinez is shorter, doesn't necessarily make him the "smaller" fighter in a sense. If you look at the body composition of both, Martinez appears to be fuller and more muscular, while Williams appears to be skinnier and bonier. Size is not only relegated to height. So the catchweight benefits Williams more. Using 147 as the barometer, William's last fight at 147 was in 2008, whille Martinez's last fight at 147 was in 2001.
Drug testing rules and regulations are in place for a reason too. Mayweather shouldn't try to influence the governing and sanctioning bodies to change already existing regulation to gain a competitive advantage over a naturally smaller man.
FAIL Freddy tried to change the rules too aginst Margs with his piss test so you have no room to talk :bottle:

I think William's catchweight is pretty sad, granted Martinez didn't have to agree to it, but who else was he going to fight? HBO only seemed interested in the rematch. Anyway, War Martinez!

Sorry, you can really blame him. CATCHWEIGHT TITLE BOUTS are BS; plain and simple. Williams fought Sergio at 160 before; I have no idea why he's changing the circumstances right now. But the difference between this and Margarito vs. Pac is that ONE OF THE COMPETITORS IS AN ACTUAL CHAMP IN THE RESPECTIVE DIVISION BEING FOUGHT IN. Both are also ranked in the middleweight division.
