De La Hoya, Vargas, Cotto(soso), Gamboa, looks like Rigo as well.
I understand the later 2 have a great amateur career, but I see it different in pros.
Gamboa nuff said
OK, I need both of you guys to explain to me how has Gamboa been matched tough?
Really, Juanma Lopez has been matched tougher than Gamboa has.
Jeff Fenech
Fought for the world title within 6 months of turning pro in his sixth fight. After only one and a half years as a pro with 11 fights fought prime HOFer Daniel Zaragoza, who had just previously won the WBC BW title and would go on straight after to win the SBW title and become one of the, if not the, greatest SBW ever. He (Fenech) had also just beaten 26-0 Jerome Coffee who was a massively hyped, top ranked prospect. Then fought former Olympic Gold Medalist and another hugely hyped pro fighter, the undefeated Steve McCrory (borther of Milton), then fought undefeated champion Samart Payakaroon, then BW champ Greg Richardson who would go on to dominate BW after Fenech moved up, then HOF legend Carlos Zarate.
So, within 18 pro fights and just three years, he had beaten three undefeated champs or high pedigree top ranked prospects, five former/future or current champs and two legendary HOF fighters along with capturing world titles in two divisions.
great post benny, jeff fenech was a great fighter, aussies best ever?
Im going to be rather controversial on this one and say David Haye. With only 25 fights irregardless of age he has got a tough resume.
Although I do agree he really needs to step up the plate and face the klits.
LMAO @ Gamboa being matched tough. The guy has fought nobody of worth. He's going to get ruined once he steps up in class.Almost four years of padding his record and he's still learned nothing and still fights like an amateur.

Veeraphol Sahaprom
Fought the great Thai fighter and two time champ Daorong Chuvatan in his fourth fight to win the WBC title then fought another BW great in Nanu Konadu. By his twelfth he had also fought former champ Rolando Pascua, who won the title from Mexican great Chiquita Gonzalez.
Saensak Muangsurin
Won the WBC world title in his third fight against champ and Spanish great Perico Fernandez. Fought former world champ Lion Fuyurama in his second fight! Every fight he had after this, bar one, was a title fight against former champs or top ranked guys. Guys like Miguel Velasquez 64-3 and a current world champ. Monroe Brooks 33-2, fought everyone, Guts Ishimatsu, former LW great and world champ, Saoul Mamby (the Emmanuel Augustus of his day but was a much better fighter and was a world champion with many defenses), future JWW champion, Jo Kimpuani 60-5 and would then go on to fight Tommy Hearns after losing his title to Syung Hyun Kim, long time JWW champ.
Yori Boy Campas,Ike Quartey,Raul Marquez,Winky Wright - Vargas fought all four within his first twenty professional fights.
Compared to todays fighters, that's an incredible resume.Vargas was great for the sport of boxing. He would have completely cleared the junior middleweight division today.
