Lets get this out of the way once and for all.
Some believe taking a knee while receiving a beating is worse than quitting on a stool, and some believe quitting on the stool is worse than taking a knee.
Vote and give your reason.
I feel if your taking a beating, you are in the middle of a battle and either take the knee because you can no longer withstand the onslaught or you are trying to regroup(which is something taught in boxing).
If you are in your corner sitting on a stool you are in the middle of a break and make a conscious decision to give up....to me this is worse.
But the bottom line is the safety of the fighter is first and foremost more important than all.
I still don't think you can blame Rafa for quitting.
He took a serious beating and THEN hurt his shoulder. Even if he continued, he would have just taken a worse beating thereby putting his health in jeopardy completely. He was getting out gunned, I mean let's say he was ahead on the cards and showed the ability to put a dent in Juanma, then I guess you can question him quitting the fight.

I completely agree. There are times when quitting looks ugly - Sonny Liston for example. Last night was not one of those times - he had one arm and was taking a savage beating by a very good puncher. All this after having been in war after war after war. There is a very good chance that he could have been seriously injured. I don't really hold that against Rafa. I was disappointed in the outcome, but I don't see how anybody is questioning his heart.
In all honesty, quitting is perfectly acceptable. All your pride and bravado won't do **** for you when you end up with brain damage, and neither will the keyboard warriors who do nothing but piss and moan over national pride. Look at Benitez, and ask yourself where all the pride, fame and glory led him to.
Regarding the actual act of giving up, its a matter of opinion. Some will say taking a knee will portray you as submissive, while others think that quitting on the stool makes you a coward for refusing to take the extra punishment. If it were me, I confess I'd rather go in a Victor Ortiz fashion, where I know I was competitive and made the choice to quit, walking away straight up, with a clear mind, and in a straight line, as opposed to stumbling all over the place in a dazed state with my eyes crossed.
If you don't agree with me, fine, but the reality is most people here expect too much out of these people, who put their health and potentially their lives on the line for our entertainment.
I have spoken! lol

The truth.
On a serious note: Both are acceptable...there is a point where a man's body can take so much punishment. Anybody that has ever done any combat sport knows that your limits are tested and in some situations you can continue and in some you can not.
Both are bad, and we can joke about one another all day. Sooooo imo one only should go to their knees at church/mosque etc. And when they are about to suck dikc, and who normally does that? B!tches!
I don't think one is worse than another.
From the safety perspective I understand and agree.
But I also believe you can also consider the fact that there is in some cases the possibility that the fighter would have been fine. He simply gave up.
The opening thread clearly states:
But the bottom line is the safety of the fighter is first and foremost more important than all.

Having too much pride and ****ting into a bag for the rest of your life or becoming an incoherent mumbling wreck.

What about choice 5:
Refuse to fight the guy and claim to be the new martin luther king of boxing by introducing a new age of drug testing, do it for one fight, with an 18 day cut off, and then take a vacation.
All while running your mouth and discrediting everything that one guy does, and never fighting him.
I think that's worse than quitting on the stool or taking a knee. At least they got in the ring.
Please no Pacquiao obsessed fans. This thread is about something else.
Taking a knee is worse cause when u take a knee, ur opponent is right there and you are pretty much at the same level as his penis.
Thats funny but untrue.
