If Margarito is able to close the distance, it won't really matter how fast he is. Cotto is actually a good in-fighter offensively and decent defensively; Pacquiao?... not really.
Pacquiao is not an effective in-fighter, he can catch you coming in with the right hook, but it won't be as enough or as effective when he has to throw it at least 4 inches above his head.
Pacquiao's aggressiveness will play against him, the more Pacquiao throws, the more opportunities Marg will have to hit Pacquiao. There will be a huge problem down the stretch, especially if Margarito concentrates exclusively on Pacquiao's body because Pacquiao's defense is his legs and offense. If you take his legs away and basically neutralize his offense (through Margarito's chin, blocking, and smothering), it's a wrap, but first he has to take Pac's legs.
Margarito's plan is to fight in close, where Pacquiao won't be as effective and work him to the body, if he's able to get to Pacquiao early enough, it'll be a sad day for Pactards/Margarito haters, a very sad day.
stop talking **** and bet all your points then :lol1:
I have a lot of points on the fight already.
begging for odds while talking about how tony will break pac easily doesn't make sense either
I never begged, everyone I bet with except panda got even odds. panda is just special.
Besides, if I did ask for odds there would be nothing wrong with it since that just reflects the "expert" oddsmakers opinions.
I'm not asking for charity, just fairness according to the market.
:slap:
160k does nothing for me...nor does it for u
u didnt call my bluff if u did u wouldve stated 6-1 odds when panda proposed the bet but u didnt...
ah well we've already been through this already...expect a me pointing a finger and laughing at ur username when michael buffer calls the time of the stoppage
u knowing that is enough satisfaction for me
I got to thinking about it and decided panda doesn't deserve even odds. Why would you laugh at my username when Pac gets stopped?
Makes no sense.
6-1 odds is more generous than the oddsmakers last I checked. It is you that has the big mouth and that's why I wanted to test your mettle with serious odds.
I called your bluff and you folded.

I watched those fights tonight as well and it reminded me how easy this fight will be for Tony.
Manny won't be able to hurt him and Manny's defense is atrocious. All he does is put on the earmuffs and invite you to tee off on him.
Tony has a much better array of punches and a better inside game than Cotto and he will bust Manny up on the ropes or even in the middle of the ring where Manny just stands flatfooted when he's not punching.
Tony will knock this guy out.
Manny will need to get respect with his power punches so as to slow down Margo. That would be part of the tactic to keep Margo off balance.
In some areas Margo does it better than Cotto but Cotto is faster and more accurate with his punches. Margo has a crazy workrate and as I said, that workrate needs to be slowed down.
a shame u didnt want that bet anymore (6-1 odds is ridiculous)
u talk such a good game :ugh:

hes definitely going to get busted up...if anyone can make him quit its manny
manny always frustrates his opponents to a point where they get discouraged and dont want to fight anymore (post hatton)...stony margarito isnt an exception
Cotto's problem was he ran out of gas and he was possibly being hit with cement. He was easily outboxing Margarito for the majority of the fight. Pacquiao's speed and movement will make this fight look like his DLH fight and he won't get tired. And if adding a few lbs of muscle makes his punching power even more devastating, Tony stands a good chance of getting Hatton'd.
Cotto's problem was that he wasn't able to keep Margo off balance. Therefore, Cotto exerted more energy than was required. Also, Cotto would put himself along the ropes and that is bad news.
Notice that Cotto didn't seem to take Margo's punches well. I agree that it could have been due to them Bricks.
Remember that Margo will be bigger than he was against Cotto. While Manny can't go up too much in weight. A clear size advantage for Margo.
I'm just hoping for a good fight.
I don't think Manny will have to hold, I think Manny's stamina is sick and that his angles will make Margaresto tire out quick.
Margo has shown to have good stamina and doesn't tire as easy as you make it sound. Margo is usually a slow starter that finishes strong
Manny may not have to hold but then that means that he was able to keep Margo off balance some other way. That is one of the keys. That is to keep margo off balance and ruin his rhythm of coming at you. Mosley did it by punching, staying at a safe distance or when he felt vulnerable, holding Margo. Cotto doesn't have Manny's good movement so he should of held more often.
Still, Manny may need to hold occasionally to break that rhythm and high workrate of Margo.
Let's see what Manny's Plan A, B and C are .....
he didn't beat Cotto because of his size or body punches either
Size was one of several factors.
He doesn't use his size like some boxers do in that they fight from the outside.
Cotto had to punch up. That can be exhausting. Cotto was exhausted. Margo, with his size advantage tried to smother Cotto and keep him fighting from the ropes. Cotto couldn't bully Margo as Margo was the bigger guy in that ring. Margo just walked him down.
The commentators mentioned size as well and that Margo is so much bigger than Cotto. So it will also be a factor against Manny.
There were some key rounds where Margo hit Cotto with several body shots that seemed to slow Cotto down and soften him up. This too was mentioned by the commentators.
BUT the most important elements were Margo's constant pressure and work-rate. It felt like Margo was on top of Cotto throughout the fight. Even when Cotto threw combinations (he did often), Margo kept coming. It was like the 7th round and the commentators had said that Margo threw more punches than any other fighter against Cotto
Margo's having a good chin helped as well.
Cotto had the obvious speed advantage but Margo was happy to hit Cotto after Cotto threw his combinations.
Still, those things that I mentioned were what Margo would need to utilize to be successful against Manny.
He didn't beat Cotto with speed, so I doubt if he wins it would be because of his speed.
Margo looked big against Cotto and will be even bigger against Manny.
His size, chin, workrate are Margo's advantages. Also look out for the body punches and upper-cuts.
Manny has good movement, speed, workrate and good power. He will need to use his assets well. I wonder if he added (practiced) on holding Margo as that was one of Cotto's problems.

I don't know that Margarito has the speed needed to beat Manny, Manny's just so damn aggressive
