I have lost my closest friend, my inspiration in life, my one and only brother. This is something I could never imagine, but for some reason I feel his life is not a loss. My brother is me! We live our lives through each other. We dedicate our triumphs to one another and share the challenges we face in life. What does someone do when they lose the one person in their life like this? They are devastated right? Allow me to share with you Stathi's thoughts and what he wants. If you can believe me, I feel you will all be somewhat enlightened to hear what I have say.
The fight will go on! I will do this for Stathi, my family and myself. The moment I walked in for a grueling sparing session after hearing the news of his death earlier that day, my trainer Brendon Smith shook my hand and said to me "you are about to take the bravest step of your life." We nodded, smiled and went to work. I worked as I have never done before. He is with me and will be all the way. I am happy about this.
I have never experienced anything like I felt that day. Stathi is inside me! We will fight this fight together. I know this is what he wants.
I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers for my brother, my family and myself. God bless.
Michael Katsidis.
SkySports have GOT to cover it. They've covered lesser US fight-nights -- plus, Katsidis has impressed in the UK -- it'd make no sense to pass on this one.
yeah, kats is a decent naMe in the U.k so is marquez. Also there is that channel premier sports, the ones that covered the mosely-mora fight, they might cover it....
Waaaarrr!
Man, what a story. Heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time.
He can't fight careless and on emotion or he will get stopped just like he was against Casamayor.
If there is a silver lining in all of this it's that Katsidis, win or lose will become a bigger star. Especially in Australia where he has been largely ignored in his career so far.
Most will lay down in pain and suffer the loss, Some will use it as motivation like an underdog Buster Douglas did once.
You got to watch the ones who want to fight in the middle of pain, the real warriors think like Katsidis.
The kid has earned my respect for taking the narrow road, He will train like his never have before and the fight will be a great fight.
I'll be tuned to watch this one for sure.
uh oh. Katsidis now has the mental edge due to his brother's death... These things can bring out the best in you. Like Buster Douglas. Katsidis will stop Marquez.

Amazing stuff.
He can win.
God bless the Katsidis family.
Talk about motivation....
This is gonna be a fight no Boxing fan should miss!!!!
No kidding! The fact that Katsidis' brother died and he elects to fight on is admirable.
If he really means what he says, then there will be a lot of emotion in an already exciting match-up.
I like both guys, but my heart's with Katsidis on this one. God bless him! :boxing:
who are you rooting for JMM or Katsidis?
JMM is my main man, but I've never been able to hate on Kats.
If he wins, I won't have anything bad to say about it.
Especially after the character he's showing by doing this.
OOOOOOOOO ****, Marquez is getting destroyed! I really shouldn't have betted on Marquez. This is gonna be like Mike Tyson vs Buster Douglas.
My condolences to Kat and his family.
Good news. This could work out 1 of 2 ways. It inspires Katsidis to put on a memorable performance and beat JMM. Or he fights with too much emotion and gets picked off by the precision sharpshooting of JMM.....interesting fight nontheless.
