I just find it strange that after Pacquiao ran through Cotto, the haters tried to take away from this victory by saying that Cotto was done, shot, past his prime, etc... at age 28-29, being active.
Then they try to legitimize Floyd beating a 38 year old Mosley who had been inactive for a year and 3 months, had gone through 2 training camps, and had suffered a back injury while sledding.
let's put that aside for now, let's just look at how they looked in their respective fights immediately after their losses:
Cotto vs Yuri Foreman (28-0, won WBA LMW championship in last bout):
Mosley vs Sergio Mora (22-1-1, best known for reality TV show 'The Contender')
Cotto, directly after losing to Pac, takes on a much bigger, slick, undefeated champion and after easily winning the first few rounds and looking great under Steward's tutelage, KOed him following a leg injury.
Mosley, on the other hand, struggled mightily against a weight-drained Mora, gassed after 4-5 rounds (just like he did against Floyd) then proceeded to throw weak pitty pat punches, struggle to breathe, and get hit flush by a man who admitted to taking it easy so as not to hurt Shane. In the end, after a horribly bad fight, a controversial draw was handed out.
So if Cotto is/was shot, then Mosley was bombarded with canons. :lol1:

Cotto aint shot............they just hatin.........
I Dont think Cotto is shot, but the question is, how much doest he have left against LIVE dogs? He hasn't had the chance OR skill to show it lately - Margarito may have cheated bc as he said in the Pac Face Off, he doesnt know if he used the hand wraps before the Mosely fight. That, along with other things, tells me he most likely he used em on Cotto. Clottey fight - headbutt cut Cotto crazy he fought with one eye for most of the fight & he didn't quit but he backed up a lot, but its hard to blame him with that big cut and Clottey's hard shots. Jennings was weak - so he gets no credit, same thing with foreman - Haters call him the one legged, feather fisted Jew, so Cotto gets NOOO credit for that win even tho he boxed the boxer out. For the Pac fight he clearly couldn't handle the skill and so people actually have a lot of reasons to think Cotto is shot - We have not seen him pound on a live, prime, hard hitting fighter in years - and the best recent memories of his performances were the fights he lost - fair or not. I feel bad for the guy, hopefull we can see him fight Angulo and some other tough Champs and win.

i'm a big cotto fan...but the type of beating he took from margarito can make a man ask questions of himself. its not like he made a mistake and got KOd...he got mentally and physically broken down and beaten into submission. in my eyes cotto hasn't looked the same since.
For the haters that want to say Cotto was shot when Pac fought him and Hatton was shot when Pac fought him, look at how many losses Shane and Marquez had before Floyd fought them..
Shane and Marquez had way more losses then Cotto and Hatton had before Pac faced them two..
So its safe to say Marquez and Shane were both damaged goods when Floyd faced them cause they both have been in too many wars with too many losses on their belts.
I agree.. Cotto was no doubt my favorite fighter before he started his backpedaling thing..
I saw him as like.. an immovable unstoppable lion in the ring. But Margarito changed that, clottey made it worse and pacquiao killed it.
Man prime Cotto looked to be on his way to ATG status. I honestly thought he was pretty much unbeatable.
Never did i think that Marg would withstand his punches and break him down like that
Man i loved Cotto in his prime. He was my favorite fighter and living in NYC, the Puerto Ricans went crazy.
Unbelieveable how 1 fight changed everything.
no doubt...margarito took his soul tho. it was hard to see cotto retreat into the corner and take a knee to avoid further punishment.
before mayweather accepted the shane fight, all flomos could do was say how old mosley was and how mosley didn't deserve the fight.
post links where anyone said shane didn't deserve a fight because he was old.shane didn't deserve a fight because he did nothing at ww at that point and didn't bring that much money to the table
if you go and look at threads, articles and interviews after the margarito fight up until after the clottey fight cotto was looked at as a shot fighters to many even these people who are now defending him only because he fought manny

so true. the funny thing was how it appeared floyd was ducking someone so old and shopworn. we are used to floyd ducking prime opponents but this was a new low. even flomos said mosley was garbage until the fight was signed then it was wow this is a great fight mosley's the best welterweight in da world! typical flomo hypocritical behavior.
Very well said mann.if margarito loses we can only find out afterwords.I think a rematch looms regardless win or lose.
I think a Cotto-Margarito match is the logical future matchup. If it's half as good as the first fight, we'll have a great war on our hands, and it will answer a lot of questions. Easy fight to sell too, that's a real PPV match. Probably will have to wait until early 2012 though, unless Chavez flakes out again.
Everyone that Pacquiao destroys is shot automatically.
Barrera had beaten Naseem Hamed (35-0), Enrique Sanchez (28-1-2), Erik Morales (41-0), Johnny Tapia (52-2-2), and Kevin Kelley (54-5-2) in succession in the 2 years before he fought Pacquiao, and he was only 29 years old. Pac demolished him, made his corner throw in the towel... so of course Marco was shot, even though he went on a 6 fight winning streak against the likes of Morales, Ayala, Juarez after Pac.
Hell even if Pac beat Floyd, you'd hear 'oh but he only fought twice in 3 years and he was 34, Floyd was shot!'
Losing to a great fighter doesn't make one shot, losing your speed, power, accuracy, stamina, general ability and skills (see Jones, Roy) makes you shot. Cotto has many fights left in him, especially with Steward tweaking his style and making improvements. He looked GREAT in the Foreman fight- footwork, stance (less hunching), and his jab especially.
