When you consider he's been champ this long and you look at who he's fought, it's hard not think he is protected.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt before but Freddy Hernandez? Clottey or Cintron at 147 were better options. Sergei Dzinziruk, Angulo, Foreman, Vanes, or Lara at 154 were all better options. Somebody strip this guy already. so he either has to move up a division or fight Clottey just to prove something to you? et the **** out of here with that dumb ****

Berto was supposed to fight Shane Mosley and the fight was postponed due to something that was out of his control. Fighting Mosley was not considered to be a fight that you would call being protected. I think that due to the postponement and what he did so far this year he took a step back this year. He will need to step it up next year.

what is with all the HATE on Berto, he has called out EVERYBODY and none of them wanted to fight him, wanted to fight Cotto, wanted to fight Mosley and they all turned him down, what is he suppose to do? if he fights someone out of his division but is a better match up, most of yall would still complain, he wanted to go down to 140 for better competition and people was complaining about that I actually like Berto, I think he has a ton of talent and like it or not he is the next in line behind Mayweather and Pacquiao in that Welterweight Division and I don't think it is just Berto himself fighting lower competition on purpose because he has reached out to TOP FIGHTERS at Welterweight and even at 154 and most of them have turned him down so what is he suppose to do? fighting Seluk Aydin (who ever the fuk that is) wouldn't have been any better and neither would fighting Mike Jones right now would be any better because none of those fighters have done anything or beat anyone of significants, Aydin biggest win was a controversial one agains Jo Jo Dan, Mike Jones biggest won was probably against...Henry Bruseles??? WTF! so neither of those guys are worthy of a shot just like the guy he is getting ready to fight but that Welterweight division SUCKS now! most of them all moved up to 154 IMO Berto beats anyone and everyone that is CURRENTLY in the Welterweight division right now besides Mayweather and Pacquiao of course but the rest I think he beats Being able to beat everybody in a weak division is not impressive. He's protected. Face it. The dude started out at Middleweight so he can't be that small. Angulo called him out, and I'm sure Lara and Saul Alvarez would make good opponents for him. If 147 is so weak and Berto was so good, he'd move up. But he's not that good, so he's gonna keep getting a free ride from HBO. Plain and simple.

I think he is. I actually came to this conclusion a long time ago. I am not even upset with his choice of opposition any longer. I got use to it I expect this from him. No doubt about it. He doesn't fight any serious competition. Probably the best fighter he's faced so far was Quintana and I had Quintana ahead on my scorecard before the stoppage. So it's only a matter of time before a top fighter takes his title from him.

I hate Berto's guts with a passion, but let's not act like he's the only manufactured fighter being shoved down our throats. Dawson is a guy who fights with the kind of passion of a clap infected cock and HBO keeps shelling out millions of dollars for him to fight on their air.
