if this is true he is a fool. He can't keep up with a troublesome, agile Pascal. He's too damn old. This is going to go badly for him.
He's stayed relevant, despite his slowed reactions due to age, due to careful matchmaking in his recent fights, but Pascal is going to beat him.. just too fast for an aged hopkins
Man, are they trying to set Pascal up to be a cash cow or what?
He could win with ring smarts and by making this an ugly fight, Pascal is just plain regular good but it doesn't go any further than that and its more on the basis of natural ability rather than actual boxing skills.
he does remind me a bit of Taylor regarding his good handspeed, size and power but the difference may be that he doesn't have that good of a jab. If Hopkins can get prepared for this fight as he did in the Pavlik and Tarver fights than he has a very good chance of winning otherwise I see him losing.
Hopkins is going to get hurt badly in this one. Pascal is ready to bang and he is too damn fast- he was definitely the quicker man against Dawson. His reflexes are superb. Stop mentioning what Hopkins did against Pavlik, because this isn't him. There is zero chance Hopkins wins, but I'll be impressed if he sees the final bell.
People do the same old routine with Hopkins. He looks rough his previous fights and then goes on to beat someone he isn't expected to beat and people look shocked.
Hopkins is ALWAYS live, he has incredible boxing skills and a brain that understands the sport and we continue to underestimate the guy. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he beat Pascal.
Hopkins, as some have already said, sees some things in Pascal that he feels he can exploit. He JUMPED at the opportunity to fight in Pascal's hometown even though B-hop is far and away the bigger name of the two. I trust the wily veteran looking to redeem himself after his putrid performance against RJjr. Now sooner or later Hopkins is going to get old in the ring since he doesn't seem to know when to hang them up. However, I think the old sage in the ring gives the younger, stronger fighter a boxing lesson. Pascal (although I didn't see the fight) lost to Froch for Pete's sake who I rank as one of the least-skilled (former) title holder in my recent memory. We'll see maybe I'm wrong which I wouldn't mind either since I'm not really a fan of Hopkins and think he should have called it a career years ago.
...as for doubting Hopkins, I actually picked him to win over a flatfooted, slow, one dimensional Pavlik.... But Pascal is an entirely different animal
People continue to misjudge Pascal as unskilled. I don't get why, the guy is one of the most dynamic in the sport.
He will make Poopkins feel his age.

How is he a fool for trying to become the light heavyweight champ at just shy of 46 years old?? He is once again showing a lot of courage
i am not questioning his courage...I'm questioning his wisdom.. unless he is ready to cash out of the game, this fight is all wrong for Bhop
Pascal is very defensively vulnerable and Hopkins will know just when to move in between his wide shots and another factor is that Pascal isn't a high pressure guy like Joe C so he won't wear the old man out.
They both most likely will be cautious picking shots and the only thing that Pascal has to trouble Hopkins is speed but he isn't nearly as skilled as Taylor was who threw a hard, straight ,and very accurate jab in doubles and triples.
Another guy that doubts Hopkins that will eat crow after B-Hop makes Pascal look sloppy moving in angles around him and chopping him with short hooks and straight rights, all night long.
Taylor? Both of you are thinking about and referring to the closer to prime Bhop.. This one, as I have been kindly reminded, is going on 46. Cash out fight.
I'm definitely buying this one.
I think Pascal will seriously press the action and it will turn into an unexpectedly amazing fight.
It has strange-outcome written all over it.
If Hopkins tries the rough stuff with Pascal, I think Pascal will overpower him after a while and end up tossing Hopkins on the ground, maybe that is B-Hop's plan..to get Pascal dq'd for the win

Theres no way in hell hopkins beats pascal, even with all the holding and headbutts in the world. He couldnt even beat Taylor.
Pascal got his ass handed to him by Froch. Hopkins is gonna school him unless he's totally shot like I think it's possible he may be.
your right, hopkins do it one more time. i wonder who gone be on the backfoot and who the aggressor
hopkins is fighting an uphill battle with this one. if win he need to look into hbo camera with that look, like he did in the pavlik fight and say ha patpatpts thats what your ass get for doubting me. cause unlike that fight my hopes of him winning are not too high.

Hopkins just can't win, son.
He fights Jones and Ornelas, and everybody's ragging about how he should be fighting top guys.
He fights the top guy, and people are still ragging.
:lol1:
