I just read this on another boxing site and though I'd post it. Makes perfect sense.
Premise number one: Hatton is and always has been a BUM. But, even a BUM who has heart, is undefeated and has huge fan support can make it far in the sport.
Hatton lost to Mayweather at 147, not Hatton's best weight. Still, Mayweather gets full credit for the victory, for taking the zero and stopping Hatton. To see how the Mayweather loss affected Hatton we must examine his conduct post Mayweather. Hatton said he wanted a rematch in England cause he felt he wasn't allowed to fight his fight. Indeed, Hatton was not allowed to do any significant in fighting. Hatton then returned and won twice in 2008. Finally, a "brimming with confidence" (quote by Hatton) Hatton challenged Pacquiao for the P4P title at 140 lbs.
Based on his conduct I'd say Hatton showed very limited side effects from the Mayweather loss, besides the normal effects that come with a first defeat. There is zero evidence at all that Hatton was doing coke. If Hatton's personal life was in such despair he could not have gotten to the point of a Pac fight.
Compare this to a post-Pacquiao Hatton. Hatton was for all intents and purposes killed in the ring. By Hatton's own admission he fell into a deep depression. Hatton's retirement was basically announced for him, a humiliation that cut extra deep. The same inside sources who broke the story of coke say Hatton started doing it after the Pacquiao fight.
It makes perfect sense. Against Mayweather, Hatton was in the conversation. He was relevant. People who talked about the fight said it was a great fight with a great resolution. The resolution wasn't great for Hatton but he was considered a worthy adversary, a dance partner so to speak of Mayweather. Contrast that with Pacquiao where Hatton was made to look ridiculous with the whole world watchinig. And we all know a man in Hatton's position cannot afford to be made to look ridiculous. The absolute nuclear bombing of Hatton, first destroyed him physically, rendering him totally incapable of taking shots, but mostly it destroyed him spirtually. It exposed Hatton as the true BUM that he is. It laid his BUM status out for the world to see. For a man, who got so far specifically because of his heart and pride this was too much of a wound to bear. The only escape for Hatton was drugs. Only heavy drinking and coke could mask his pain.
Mayweather beat Hatton in a boxing fight. Pacquiao fuked Hatton up for life.
He has not ended Cotto's...not yet.
As for hatton, I am getting a little tired of seeing how 'depressed' he was after losing to Pacquiao and/or Mayweather. If he were honest with himself he would have the good sense to admit that he was never that good at boxing. He was not a boxer, he was a wrestler. He overextended and overachieved and instead of being proud of what he had done and minding that he had accomplished and made a lot of money doing so, he let his head swell. For all his vaunted 'humility' he really was quite full of himself. THAT is what led to his depression.
hahaha, open your cotto plated peelers. you dont win 4 major world titles in 2 divisions and own a division for 5 years if you are "never that good at boxing"
He has not ended Cotto's...not yet.

Glorious, PBCS answer.
Mayweather certainly didn't affect Hatton one iota, physically and mentally.
He came back with two wins after that fight. Had he beat Pacquaio he would have demanded a rematch against Mayweather.
Of course, Mayweather retired and joined WWF.
Last I heard just recently, Hatton is entertaining a rematch against Mayweather. Apparently, he still thinks he could beat Mayweather.
Both want none of Pac.
he ended hattons,oscars,cottos

He ended Hatton's.
He ended Oscar's.
Cotto is 154 champ right now. Obviously, he did not end Juan Manuel Márquez's career neither. Nor David Diaz's. Probably not Clottey's. If I am not mistaken, Jorge Solis is also champion right now. Morales was finished by David Diaz.
Pac is great, but is not the grim reaper of careers.
Pacquiao worshipers don't care about anything but to worship him in every opportunity they get. They don't care about nothing else. Of course Mayweather gave Hatton his 1st defeat and coming back to a KO didn't help his steam either.
But when you are in the public eye, the public can be cruel when you fall.
It will blow over with time.. . and coke.
What a load of tripe. Hatton had a greta boxing career and was ultimately destined to lose to the best pound for pound boxers in the world. There's no shame in losing to these two.
If you actually read or listened to hatton's recent statement where he said why he did drugs etc you wouldn't have posted such spurious nonsense.
he said that the TWO defeats had a huge impact on him and sent him on a spiral into depression. he also said the only times he took coke was when was so wasted that he didn't know what was going on and just said "yeah why not?"
Rickey hatton was not a bum, he just had a lot of friends who were bums and he was just an ordinary guy who was a class act in the ring and who liked to unload when he wasn't in training.
I guess He's not as good as you guys think. He made a superstar a junkie? That's not making people happy, so I guess Pacquiao was not able to make EVERYBODY happy.
