He punches like a MULE at 20 He looks different than the average Mexican even Latino He's got great skill and many fights already But most of all..He's a humble kid..he's accomplished so much in so little time and his ego hasn't made him too cocky yet..if he stays this way..Canelo will definitely be Boxing's biggest Cash Cow by 2015 He said in post fight he'd be starting his ascent for a title and bigger names in about a year. I know he wont keep this 5-7 fights a year schedule when he moves up in opposition but you may be right that in about 4 years, this guy is one of the biggest cash cows. People can say they aren't impressed, but how many other 20 year olds do you see out there wrecking shop like he is? I know Baldy was 40, but it was still arguably one of Alvarez's toughest opponents and he made him look like dirt in 6 rounds. By late next year I can see him fighitng a semi-big name for a real belt. Just hope they don't pull a "Jacobs" and throw him in with someone a little too good for him before he's ready.

He's only 19 and has a HUGE upside. He's only gonna get better with age and experience and that's scary. He has very good skills for someone his age and has very good power. Also his defense is pretty good. I was very impressed at how he laid out Baldomir. I've never seen Baldomir ever hurt let alone put on his face like that. This dude is the real deal not like that hype Chavez Jr. Now he's a BUM. Canelo will DESTROY his bum ass.

I'm imressed with his flooring of Baldomir, but i have yet to see him against top notch opponent and still think he has some flaws that can be expolited.

Because they overrate him and don't recognize the true talent that Mexico has like Abner Mares and Alfonzo Finito Lopez just because they fight in smaller divisions. I'm not saying the kid isn't gonna end up being good. But Jesus Christ. I'm not gonna wet my pants over a win no matter how brutal it was over a 40 year old Baldomir.

how can you not like him, he has some serious pop and at a very young age. He can only get better....and I've heard from a few chicks that he is good looking, so that's going to attract a big female fanbase as well. ...he maybe the next cash-cow.

Mexico loves him, Staples loves him, HBO loves him and I get a sense that NSB is starting to love him. I can't pinpoint it, what is it about Canelo that gives him that star appeal? Because he's 100% Mexican, and he's Mexico's most valuable prospect at WW and beyond. He doesn't have the if/and/or/buts that ODLH had with Mexican fans. Same thing with Vargas and Margarito. There are no problems with Chicanos rooting for Mexicans, but Mexicans don't root with the same fervor for Chicanos. For historical reference check out ODLH/Chávez I and II.

It's pretty obvious. He's young, white, red-headed, but born and raised in Mexico. He's a Mexican ginger. He's limited as a fighter, but his fan base will be strong.

He's a Mexican, but he's white, so he has support from both those bases.:dance: He's fun to watch, and he has talent, plus how young he is.

Like his style, he isn't the quickest or most athletically gifted boxer, but he's actually a smart boxer. He controls distance, defense is pretty good, he feints a lot and he's good with both hands, nice kid too. What's not to like?
