I think Hamed beats them all on the list, which is good testament as there are some good names on that list. I think Marquez had the best tools to test Hamed, but its if he could match Hamed well at 126.
How does a prime Hamed match up with the current crop of FW's
Juan Manuel Lopez
Celestino Caballero
Chris John
Yuriorkis Gamboa
Rafael Marquez
is it before or after the barrera fight? barrera's blueprint is very valuable in this IMO... if it is before then almost all of them have their hands full...
marquez with nacho as his trainer might have the biggest chance here...
but if it is after the barrera fight, its a different ball game altogether...
now im not saying im basing my answer on that but barrera executed the plan perfectly and all five of these names can execute it too with the exception of gamboa who can be undisciplined and just be sloppy sometimes...
we dunno if hamed could have made the necessary adjustments post-barrera though...
I have no doubt in my mind he would've KO'ed most of them. Perhaps Chris John would be cagey enough to escape a UD, but that's pushing it. Prime, focused Hamed wasn't to be messed with. I couldn't stand him (and still can't), but he deserves his props for what he did back in the day.
Good to see some love for the Prince, and some knowledgable posts instead of usual 'Eurobum' crap that some idiots come out with.
All todays FW get knocked silly by him, you don't have to have a suspect chin for Naz to KO you. Plenty of fighters he put to sleep had never been stopped or put down, but once they tasted the power they decided it was time to nap.
Hamed was most of the time off balance, Gamboa would knock him down a lot, even if they're not real knockdowns, they count. On the other side he surely would get knocked down twice himself
When featherweights get hit by Naseem Hamed it's a whole different story. It makes them lose concentration, and they get ready to get knocked out. In other words he knocks all of them out cold in the first few rounds, for those who say jml has a chance, you are crazy and asinine, he was was almost stopped by the bum African.
Exactly my dude :fing02:

they ALL get KTFO by Nas :boxing:
I'm pretty much with the consensus.
Hamed sparks every one of these dudes out. TKO or KO. Maybe wins a decision against Pelenchin.
awkward angles, sick power in both hands, too shifty.
Hamed lost to an ATG mexican fighter....there's zero shame in that. Had Hamed fought anyone else in his division not named Barrera or Morales, he woulda sparked their asses out too.
I've come around on Hamed a lot in retrospect.
Not only did it take an ATG to beat him (and he won some rounds that night), but Hamed had plenty of good wins that get overlooked. Robinson, Kelley, Johnson, Vasquez, Soto, Medina, McCullough, Ingle, Bungu (IMO his best win)...there might not a GREAT fighter in the bunch, but that's a pretty deep pool of good and he dominated most. There ain't a dude in class right now who's faced this breadth of challenges. Gamboa? Dude just beat his first top ten contender and looked eh doing it. He's looked eh against a lot less more than once already. Hamed smoked through Salido types at the same point in his career.
Caballero might be hell with his height, and a younger Marquez might be hell because he's Rafa (this slower, older version gets merked) but, until they prove better than what they MIGHT turn out to be, I'll go with an Hamed who was proven for better and worse.
