Hey guys kinda wondering wouldn't it been better if they would of put him in the ring with Like a striker even a kick boxer just not someone that wrestles.....
I mean him getting kicked would be better than him getting wrestled I would of Just much rather of watched him take on someone that hits hard like liddel or something idk watchu guys think
Liddell's a wrestler too.
Shut this thread down. this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
Wow a wrestler who doesn't even use it for offense but only for defense? Cmon now. This is the point of the thread you know, Liddell wouldn't not try to take down Toney, and will be a stand up match. You think Liddell would win against Toney on a boxing match with a small ass glove? You think? You obviously doesn't know what you talking about.
He released Toney because Toney wasn't taking the contract seriously. If Toney did, there would have been at least a bit of a struggle.
Toney is in it for the check and doesn't give a **** about making it challenging for his competitior. That's why he got booted.
And Rampage is a wrestler.
Thats it? Because Toney didnt make a stuggle with the contract negotiation? Didnt you think maybe Toney has no offer to box in boxing but only ufc? It doesnt change the fact the Toney is a competitor. Dane has just gave him a bat match up, Toney its not his fault though. We didnt know Couture wouldnt even try to test his skill against a boxer. And Rampage is not pure wrestler in MMA, you havent seen him take down anyone. Even against Evans he was trained for take down defense more than taking down his opponent. What does that tell you? Rampage fight toe to toe just like Liddell.
so you tell me dana purposely match james toney with a wrestle on randy coutore? Randy is more of a stand up kind guy now, he fought toe to toe on his last fight with Vera and other fight as well. You cant deny if James toney goin to face any other heavies just like Rampage, who is known for being no ground game, he can hang with them or even KO him. As mostly all of the heavies and light heavies are fighting toe to toe. Now UFC is getting and getting more like boxing but with smaller gloves. Im not surprised why Dana not willing to let James Toney fight again.

The reason being Couture knew Toney's training was crap. Trevor Shurman is a nobody. He's the guy you leave to babysit your kids and drop a cool $500 to get a black belt to compete your kids' pajama set.
If Toney kept on losing with this training group, the same **** would have happened over and over again.

the funny thing is mostly the fighter in heavyweight and light heavy is not tryin to take down their opponents. Almost all the time now, you see them on their feet exchanging blows. Even Couture when he fought Vera didnt try to take him down. But when he face Toney he suddenly back to his wrestling background? You see elites like Rampage, Wanderlei Silva, even Machida dont take their opponents to the ground.

Toney shouldn't be licenced in any combat sport, he's clearly got brain damage. I hope he can get himself into some physical and mental shape and enjoy his life after boxing but he seems totally incapable of doing that. He'll be dead before 60.
No matter who he fights, every single one of them will try to wrestle him right away
And stop with these dumbass titles trying to get people into yor thread

Toney didn't get released to prove a point, he got dropped because he never took training seriously. Dana doesn't tolerate checque collectors.
A kickboxer would beat him just as badly. Watch Ray Mercer vs Remy Bonjasky.
Let's be honest here, this is just common sense.
That fight doesn't mean ****. Remy is one of the best kickboxers that ever lived, against a fat old boxer with very little training. How is that fair to judge boxing like that? Let's take a prime mike tyson against a 50 year old washed up kick boxer and see what happens.
Really wow?
I heard he was gonna try it again but o well what about kimbo sorry self being in boxing?
Kimbo was never and sure as hell isnt a professional fighter in anything. Not in boxing and not in mma.
He's just some random hardass off the street that didnt know anything but halfway decent boxing but never in good enough shape to compete professionally.

He didn't embarrass boxing Tony just embarrassed himself. There are a few Pro Boxers in MMA that are well respected among MMA fans and media. Tony just stunk up the joint is all.

That sucks I really wanna see him fight a striker
All in all, he gave Toney what he was REALLY looking for (a payday). He got 500K which is more than a good amount of the UFC guys get. But he knew Toney would make a mockery out of himself, Dana simply provided the platform.
