thanks for posting. im a massive film fan so i heard about this movie ages ago. i forgot about it until now actually. apparently before wahlberg they wanted brad pitt for the role.Brad Pitt was actually in the running for Dickie when Darren Aronofsky (director of The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain) was still attached. Wahlberg was always going to be Micky.

That clip of the weigh-in is for the Shay Neary fight in England, 2000. That was for the WBU 140lb title...I guess they are going to run with that as the 140lb championship for the sake of the story. That's a great underrated fight right there. Bale sounds just like Dickie, this should be great.

For anyone who plans to go see it, DON'T go to see it for the Gatti fights as from what I've been told they don't feature at all. So don't go and be dissapointed... see it if you want to see Micky Ward's story.

Looks like a sick movie. A bit to hollywood for a movie about Micky Ward. Does anyone know which fight he got wooped in that the trailer was refering to? It said in the trailer before the fight he was 31, his only loss during that period was to Vince Phillips.

But yeah, Mickey Ward being the 'great white hope' helps in marketing the film to White America, no getting around that.

I can't wait for this movie to come out, I was a little bit of the skeptic with Mark playing the role but am now convinced this dude has got it...

As turbulent an upbringing as some of them had, they are missing a crucial story hook. The core of this film will be 'Brothers', Dicky's struggle with drugs, him holding Micky back and then being the lifeline he needs at the crucial moments. Audiences will relate to that. It'll be a boxing movie second to that.
