There's "A" - Khan has more devoted followers the UK fans r as loyal as they can get without being Pac-fans. And Pakistani fans r similarly on par with Pac-fans in their loyalty. Which gives him a bigger fan base, thus more star power.
Than u take into mind, Ortiz's loss may not have been as devastating, but Khan did try to get up and continue even after that crushing knockdown. Ortiz basically said he didn't want to fight anymore, and confirmed this in the after fight interview. U can be forgiven for getting knocked out by UK fans (Hatton). But as loyal as Latinos r, they don't know the meaning of the word "forgive" when it comes to quitting. It took the Pride of Panama years before he was forgiven.
Kotelnik beat Maidana, Maidana beat Ortiz, Khan Beat Kotelnik. Making it seem as Khan would beat Maidana and Ortiz.
People forget styles make fights
yeah but people also forget that Khan dominated ortiz in the amatuer and made him quit.
Khan can't help it that he has a bad chin, but Ortiz simply didn't want anymore. Ortiz committed one of the worse mistakes a young boxer can make by throwing in the towel. Ortiz had an option, but Khan didn't. Ortiz loss is worse.
i dont like quitter but i will say this about ortiz.
when you are in a fight and you are young and you have no experience and the guy is beating you it is very hard. ortiz just say in words what other guys do in action.
that is what happen to peterson hast night. peterson was so frustrate that he did not know how to get the guy off him
what peterson did is like suicide by cop.
if ortiz had stay down when big puncher like maidana put him down it would be better?
khan do not even want to fight the guy that give ortiz the loss.

There are 3 main reasons why Khan is a bigger star than Ortiz IMO.
1)Khan has a world title,Ortiz does not so Ortiz is going to be on the undercard because the fight is less significant.
2) GBP paid huge money and guarantee big money per fight to Team Khan. They are in so deep that the only way they can make money out of him is to make him a big star. GBP's downside is far greater with Khan than Ortiz.
3) GBP are looking at going for a huge untapped Muslim/Asian market with Khan. There are tons of Mexican fighters for Mexican fans to get behind but there is only one big name Pakistani (Be it British Pakistani) fighter for Asian fans to follow.
Its because hes muslim and hes british. Not alot of REAL muslims are fighters, You only get to see them once a decade, they too busy blowing themselves up and fighting 5:1 to start training boxing. Props to Khan, he made millions not fighting the best and after getting KTFO still calling the shots. Who knows how long he can milk it for? Hes not fully developed yet and looks like a boy so we will see if he will get a tougher chin or if he will be fighting Featherfisters like Paulie for the rest of his life in the UK.
Just because Khan hasn't fought many big punchers, doesn't mean he hasn't fought world class fighters. Kotelnik and Malignaggi are both very good wins. And not only did he beat them, he almost shut them out on the scorecards. That deserves credit. I agree that he has to fight the top/dangerous fighters at 140 to be recognised as the best in his division. But we can't forget that the last time he stepped in with a puncher he was viciously knocked out. His career up to then has been managed carefully, though he has fought some very good fighters in that time. Hopefully a fight with Maidana will happen because I think he is more than capable of winning the fight. They just need to come to an agreement. Whether he wins or lose, I will always support him because he is a talent and fun to watch.

I wouldn't say khans loss is worse - he went out on his shield were Ortiz basically gave up.

Khan kinda ugly though (no homo) :ugh:
Ortiz is rebuilding, Khan has been rebuilt.
Khan has the Brits, Pakistanis, and Muslims supporting him. That is a big group. He was knocked out and came back strongly to win a title and there has been improvement in every fight of his since the defeat. He got knocked out, he didn't quit.
Ortiz doesn't have a world title and people were put off by what he said after the defeat. Khan said he would come back stronger and Ortiz said something like "I am too young to get beat up like this." Boxing fans don't like guys that quit and on top of that say things that make them seem like a pretty boy that doesn't respect the sport. Ortiz can still come back though, so don't count him out..........
you dont loose respect for a boxer when he gets knocked out but when your fighter quits like ortiz did,its hard to swallow
i like both fighters and hopefully we get to see them fight next year,if they both keep winning
because of Khan's race and cause he didn't quit he just got KTFO
so that makes him a bigger "star"? I don't follow your logic
Neither one is really a star per say, both are just potential boxing stars who can draw a good crowd...
