Nobody. I am sick of people saying Haye deserves ever 40% because he can bring the U.S. audience. Hell, Klitschko could fight Sprott/Fraudley or Chi and probably make more money because of the split than he would against Haye. No one is America knows who Haye is, maybe it would be on HBO, maybe. But the average American cant tell you one thing about David Haye. How many people watched his HW fights here in America? 9 outside of youtube or an illegal stream?
I am not saying that the Klitschko's are huge draws, but most American sports fans have at least heard of them. No one has heard of Haye. Nobody. Ask even fight fans who in the U.S. who David Haye is and they cant tell you a thing.
Non English Euro's turn in to every Klit fight even if he was fighting a homeless man sleeping outside the arena theyd come and order it.
A rematch with Arreola, a fight with Toney or Holyfield, calling Tyson out of retirement, fighting Tua, or even Adamek would probably be bigger U.S. draws.
So all Haye brings is the UK fan. Lots of British fighters can bring those people, maybe not at the same level, but if the winner of Chisora vs. Sexton could bring in 30% of the british fans Haye did, the Klitschko's would make more money.
It costs much more for either Klit to give 50/50 because all it does is tell a guy like boytsov or adamek or SOlis to just talk trash, get some worthless belt, and claim the Klitschko's are slave owners and they will expect the same deal Haye got. Caving to Haye would be the worst financial mistake for the Klitschko's, hes not on their level.
so who is legit in the HW division? vladimir is fighting peter again....
peter is the most legit opponent that he could get right now, and i do believe peter is ranked (am i wrong here?) so it would get a mandatory out of the way as well. povetkin is ducking (but hes admitting it at least), and haye is doing some of the most explosive and mind blowing ducking ever seen in the history of boxing. Adamek isn't available either.
who else would you rather have wladimir fight? solis? valuev? arreola? or worse... maskaev?
arreola is the only one that could potentially be more dangerous than peter - but he is on the comeback trail. i don't think he wants or needs any part of a klitschko fight any time soon. solis is no more dangerous than peter is and would be less of a money fight. making a deal with valuev is impossible, plus he is injured.
wlad is fighting the best that is available to him. it would be nice if haye, povetkin, and adamek would step up to the plate - but it isn't going to happen. TBH i think the peter rematch is nicer than the povetkin fight.
the only other super fight in the division (aside from haye-wlad) is klitschko-klitschko. that isn't going to happen.
This is true, but he draws more PPVS than anyone outside of Pacquiao and Mayweather.
His fight with Valuev did over 800,000 PPVs, and Ruiz apparently did 600k PPV buys.
I can't remember an active fighter that did those numbers outside of a Pacquiao or Mayweather fight. This is purely the UK buys, I'm sure the German TV drew a large percentage of people (I don't think German fights are on PPV often)
Regardless it's still a lot of money, this is just what I have researched. I don't particularly support Haye and his actions anymore but his fan base in the UK is ridiculous especially looking at the UK's population.
Walk down he street and ask 100 people in any city in America who he is. None will know. Maybe one if you get lucky. But that is the same with guys like Wlad as well.
Does David Haye have any fans who are actualy boxing fans?
i was rooting for him when he started making his klitschko challenges.
nothing against the klits but i thought haye could make for some entertaining fights at heavy.
but that was 2+ years ago.
if he thinks fighting 1 fight a year against john ruiz and nikolay valuev is enough , i don't know......
no one in america knows who the Klitschkos are to be honest with you...
and even then the klits name recognition in america is probably 100 times that of david haye.
Lets see HBO come running to show Haye vs. Harrison. How many times have either Klitschko been on HBO. Hell, if they were willing to fight in America HBO wouldnt have dropped them. HBO's issue is they make no money showing the fight at 2 pm on a saturday and they make even less money showing the replay that night when all the boxing fans have already watched the stream. That is there point. The Kltischko's make more money over in Germany than they do in the U.S. it is a problem of timezones more than popularity.
Is ESPN going to be picking up the Haye harrison fight? They were eager to get the Klitschko fight.
Haye is a 0 draw in the U.S. Whats the biggest known fighter in the U.S. he's been in the ring with...an ancient John Ruiz?
That fight was a while ago and neither has really done anything special to stay relevant to Americans. I agree that Haye & the K bros are equal when it comes to being known by Americans.
No way are they equal in terms of being known by Americans. HBO's best rated fight last year was Vitali vs. Arreola. What are you talking about. Americans know who the Klitschko's are, Wlad has been on ESPN quite a few times, no one knows who haye is whatsoever.
That's not entirely true, unlike Haye! Lennox Lewis was a big name even for casual fans, and alot of casual fans saw Lennox Lewis vs Vitali Klitschko.

Haye doesn't have a huge fanbase.
That GIF is not real is it? LMAO that is crazy regardless real or not.
Back to the topic. I know and have seen david haye fight and I live DC!!! Not saying he deserves 40% or better either also IMO most Americans don't know the K bros either.
Casual fans don't know who Haye is in America, which makes Haye a nobody over here.
Exactly. I know who Haye is, everyone on this board knows who Haye is. Heck if this board was any indicator of the american populace as a whole. Mayweather and Pac are bigger than Jordan and Tiger multiplied together plus Lebron James and A-Rod. Klitschko's would be able to do huge ppvs for Americans.
The casual sports fan in America hasnt heard of David Haye. The people who bought Tyson fights and Bowe fights, the guys who grew up with Ali and with Hagler and Leonard etc...they dont know who Haye is or if they do...they dont care.
Haye is the shotcaller.
Haye isnt the shot caller. It would be worth 50/50 if he could bring the American audience because they love winners, and if Haye could bring them and Wlad crushed Haye, every fight of theres would be bigger with Americans, he cant. He can bring British fight fans, who already know and dislike the Klitschko's. When Klitschko wins he wont gain fans...they will just go back to worshipping Matthew Hatton and say that Haye shouldnt have moved up. The Klitschko's dont gain anything in the future with Haye. If a fighter could get Americans to tune in, the future dollars could be worth it. As it stands, caving to Haye is just bad business.
If Haye gets 50/50 and Vitali retires and Povetkin beats Solis for Vitali's belt....he'll want 50/50 and everyone with a name from now on will want 50/50.
Haye can bring Brits...so can the winner of Chisora vs. Sexton. Haye can fight Fraudley, but to quote Sam Peter, "who next." Chagaev? Haye would never risk it against Chagaev. Povetkin and Haye are each hiding from their shadows. Who will he fight? Who will he fight that will pay him enough to be worth the risk of losing his only leverage in bargaining with the Klitschko's. He has to fight someone easy, but they cant be Fraudley easy, so who would be left? Arreola?
does it matter?
haye still has a huge fanbase even if most of them are in britain. however one thing that haye does not have is any balls. haye isn't fighting anyone legit anytime soon, much less a klitschko. the thing that makes me mad is how british fans can be so blind and still like him despite his extreme ducking.
