Everyone realizes Toney is getting stopped right?

OK everyone knew what was going to happen. Back to boxing.

are you trying to say mma is superior to boxing? **** off with that ****! they are 3rd rate athletes compared to real ones in boxing. I have no idea how anyone can interpret my thread as meaning this. Regardless, the fight went as expected. Everyone banking on Toney hitting a grand slam = fail. Hopefully no more nonsense fights like this.

Bingo. Their marketing strategy is backfiring horribly. Boxing fans who hadn't followed MMA until tonight are going to be turned off by this borefest of a card. These fights have been atrocious. They are no different then all the other crap fights they always show, I have never bought a UFC PPV and I never will!

yeah...I would think part of Dana White's strategy is to try to lure boxing fans to watch this UFC event and then get hooked on UFC so they can transition to being UFC fans. But so far it's turning me off to UFC even more than I was previously as this is one of the most boring dull series of fights I've ever seen in my life. Bingo. Unbearably boring, especially that Maynard/Florian fight. yeah...I would think part of Dana White's strategy is to try to lure boxing fans to watch this UFC event and then get hooked on UFC so they can transition to being UFC fans. Just seems like a no win situation for either sport. A win for Couture means nothing . A win for Toney hurts UFC and destroys Couture's rep. This is why I say it shouldn't matter either way. Just two men getting in a cage and basically street fighting. if Toney wins it would just further reinforce the premise that washed up athletes from other sports can just walk in off the streets and be champs in low skill UFC. Except for Jose Canseco of course... :lol1:

Dana White ducks prime great boxers that talk about fighting in the UFC Couture is not as war weary as Toney.. Toney has taken enough punishment to the dome over the years to crack a bunker.. Toney is a bigger name than Mercer. Toney is one of our ATG's in this sport. Sure, he's a punchdrunk idiot now but in his prime he was magic. Whatever the result here, it will have farther reaching implications than Mercer vs Silva. point is it's 2 ATG's from their respective sports going against each other where one has all the advantages: Couture. The reason is Couture is at his natural prime weight, Toney is not only leagues above his natural weight of middleweight but he weighed in at his highest weight EVER in his pro career for this fight at 237lbs. Couture is older but he also started very late (in his 30's I think?) so has taken far less punishment. He was a major 'force' in mma far more recently than Toney was one in boxing. Couture also has about 25-30 fights and is fresher than Toney's 80 fights. Conclusion: Couture has all the advantages, including the obvious one that they're fighting under MMA rules. So Toney doesn't have too much to lose in actuality. BUT if he wins then MMA is exposed as the biggest farce of all time

Couture is older and is just as 'shot' in MMA as Toney is in BOXING. Toney went to the UFC the UFC didn't come to Toney. The results shouldn't be a comparison of Boxing vs MMA anymore than Mercer Vs Tim Silva was. lol...Toney has a chance... MMA doesn't know how to handle true strikers... Prime Toney would clean any of them pound for pound. What is despicable is they are taking a SHOT Toney, and then using what results from this as a barometer of Boxing vs MMA. Why not take a legendary prime boxer and pit him against your glorified backyard brawlers? Swine. Mmm yes brother that is causing me many sleepless nights. I have to keep educating my UFC friends, who don't know boxing, that Toney is actually not the HW Champ of the World, and that he's not good enough to hang in our sport's division.

if Randy goes for the take down and miss then he will be in trouble, that is the only chance Toney has is if he can some how block the Take Down or if he can step back or get out of the way of the take down then catch Randy then he has a great chance of winning if Randy just comes out and takes him down with no problem then all Randy is going to do is lay on top of him like most UFC guys who cant fight standing up do and Ground & Pound him I think Toney is going to pull out some moves nobody is expecting, it would be funny if Toney takes him down and Wrestle him, NOBODY would be expecting that lol

This fight is the equivalent of a guy bringing a knife to a gun fight. In theory, with a little luck the fellow wielding the knife will be fortunate enough to stab his opponent. However... 19 out of 20 times, the dude with the gun wins. Tim Sylvia's loss will only serve to warn mma fighters about striking. IMHO Boxing is the far better sport, but for the casual sports fan indifferent to the fight game.. This fight may serve to persuade him/her MMA is better. Personally, I'm not too concerned with the general public's perception, b/c true boxing fans know the deal. It seems a lot of boxing fans' love for boxing has somewhat blinded their expectations. Hopefully Toney doesn't end up on every UFC highlight reel ever as a result of tonight.. Boxing deserves better than that. Great post. Rep given.
