Honestly, yes. His fights were always a huge spectacle. But if he was still fighting, I would be one of those guys begging for his retirement.
He looked about 50 years old when he was fighting Pac. I am glad he decided to hang it up when he did. I wish Holyfield and Roy would take note.

Oscar was a standard that Mayweather and Pacquiao have not lived up to. I don't see how you can be a fan of the sport and not miss Oscar.
He fought everyone, brought in new fans, made stars of the fighters he fought, he was unbelievable for the sport of boxing.
I think you're talking about Mayweather only. PAC is way above those guys.
We can debate how good Oscar was as a fighter but it's hard to argue with the product, the Oscar brand. Oscar was the complete package. In his prime, he was a top pound for pound boxer with good looks, charm and his fights sold out arenas and solid PPV numbers. Both Floyd and Manny and others have tried to emulate that model.
Of course he wasn't liked by everyone. Mexicans often criticized his fighting style and some have still haven't forgiven him for beating up Chavez. I think he still had a couple more quality fights left in him but it was probably wise for him to retire with his face still intact.

Im sorry but Pacquaio by far surpassed Oscar. Unlike Oscar, Pacquaio actually won his big fights and its arguably that they have a same toughness in resume.
Really did you forget the reason why pacquaio got big. Oscar ducked Margarito and decided to make a fighter who only fought 1 fight above 130 which was at 135 fight jump 2 weight class. Too bad he didn't expect pacquaio to carry both his speed and power and actually use two hands.

I kinda miss watching him fight, to me it seems his career flew by really fast, I still remember watching him and the Chavez fight like it was yesterday, now just like that bam! He's outta the game.
People hate the guy for what he turned into towards the end and as a promoter, but he was fun to have around as a fighter. He fought the best. Win or lose he always came to fight. Plus he had some great fights that were just fun to watch.
Never thought I would but I was watching the Vargas fight on the weekend and it was awesome. so yeah... i kinda do. Glad he hung them up when he did though, smart man.
Yes, Oscar carried the sport and was masterful to watch. One of the few fighters who would fight anybody at anytime and never backed away from a fight with anybody.
He sure didn't want any part of Margarito or Cotto...he chose to fight an undersized Pacquiao because he thought he was gonna get an easy win...lol
