Per Dan Rafael's notebook:
Roy Jones (54-7, 40 KOs), the former pound-for-pound king and four-division champion plans to continue his career in the wake of his one-sided loss to Bernard Hopkins in April. Although Jones, 41, has lost three of his last five fights, including two in a row -- to Hopkins and a first-round knockout to Danny Green -- he is in discussions to face Danny Santiago (31-4-1, 19 KOs) in a cruiserweight fight in October in Pensacola, Fla., Jones' hometown. John Wirt, CEO of Jones' Square Ring promotional company, told ESPN.com the fight with Santiago was possible "but Roy is also considering some other things, some other options. We'll know more in a few days."
Let's hope he wins this fight and then calls it quits. For Reed's sake... :nonono:
It's rumors and speculation right now but I heard that WBC President Jose Suiliman stated that his organization would sanction a fight between Holyfield and Vitali. I don't think it's that far fetched either. Briggs got a shot and he's fought a lower level of competition than Holyfield...
That's true...
Are you sure? I thought that was just talk from Holyfield's promoter.

Besides, Holyfield is enroute to a title shot with Vitali Klitschko next year (provided he beats Sherman Williams this Oct.)...

at this point holyfield would kill him my 1 and 2 fighters dont wanna see it

Evander Holyfield vs RJJ at HW, and after that both retire, who's with me?

Well, if he gonna do it, lets get it. Roy is my favorite all time fighter and I hope he does well. Isnt Santiago the guy Danny Green ko'd on the Jones Lacy undercard. It seems like Roy is making his way back to Danny Green, if so, lets just hope that the hand wrap thing is over and the fight is in the U.S. Danny Green's handwraps are definitely wrong to say the least. They sit five to six inches above his knuckles and definitely were not right. Especially being that the shot that knocked down Roy bounced off his shoulder first.... hmmmmmm. Anyways..... go get it Roy, but please call it a day soon. You have nothing to prove. All time great says enough
OH MY GOD .... WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO PUT THAT GUY INTO RETIREMENT ? HE HAS BEEN A SHOT FIGHTER SINCE 2004 ... I MEAN COME ON NOW ... FOR GOD's SAKE... HE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST BOXER OF ALL TIME BUT NOW HE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHAT GOES UP MUST EVENTUALLY GO DOWN... HE IS FINISHED... IF HE CONTINUES LIKE THAT HE WILL GET SERIOUSLY HURT. GOD BLESS HIM ...
He'll win and say "Pensacola back in the hooooooouse". :sad1:
he'll win and i'll say "ROY JONES IS BACK!!!"
then he'll lose and i'll leave the forum for 4-6 months again
Damn ROY... I will follow you till the end. Because of this man I became a fan of boxing. RJJR is the GOAT. Its funny cause hes the greatest and nobody even comes close. When will the boxing world accept that.... Fight to the Finish my good man.
It is actually.
There might come a time where he'll only be remembered for these end of the line losses rather than his heavyweight win or the Toney fight.
Thats only if he keeps fighting and losing to fighters he'd finish off with ease 10 years ago.
I do hope hes just thinking of retiring with a win back home, it would be a good end to his career.
By who? When I think of Ali I think of Foreman and Frazier not Leon spinks and Larry Holmes. Evander is more memorable for his fights with Bowe than for his fight with Larry Donald. Thats crazy to think that anyone would judge a fighter based on how they performed 10 years past their best.
