I took my wife to Orlando this weekend to celebrate her birthday at the Loews Royal Pacific hotel in Universal Studios. On our boat trip back to the hotel after going into Island of Adventure in the afternoon I happen to look a few seats across from us and there he was, Devon Alexander "The Great" with his wife and kids, trainer Kevin and a few family members.
At first I wasn't too sure cuz he was looking to the side but then I saw his trainer Kevin wearing a St Loo Cardinals hat and then I was like "holy **** that's Devon Alexander..." I panicked a little bit and yelled out at him "Yo Champ!" and did a fist, he looked back smiled, then I made a gesture with my hands as to take a picture after the boat ride ended and he nodded.
As soon as we all got off the boat I waited for him, shook his hand and apologized for disturbing his vacation, he told me no problem, it didn't bother him at all. I told him I was a huge fan and I was a bit starstruck, he was all smiles and even his wife was laughing at that comment I made. So my wife took the picture, I thanked him and told him last week was a hell of a fight, he shook my hand and as he walked away I said "Champ, we got Bradley next right?" he smiled back and gave me a thumbs up.
Awesome, awesome guy, a straight shooter and hell of a nice dude, definitely in my top 5 favorite boxers right now, here's the pic for proof.

That is a hell of a drive to bring your wife to Orlando from Miami- about 3 and half hours. Our house is at Kissimmee only about 20 minutes away from all the parks. I never bumped into any celebs the times i been to Disney,Universal, or even Busch Gardens in Tampa.
In NYC, that is where you will celebs or athletes once in a while. But I never approach them unless i am a fan of them.
Nice story, as everyone knows many people are not that down to earth. Imagine saying Hi to Floyd with his 6 bodyguards? We saw that Vegas video where a guy bumps into Floyd in a vegas mall and says "We love you floyd" and he replies "ahah" without even shaking his hand or anything.
Thanx man, the drive is fun actually, I'm always down for a roadtrip so we don't mind, and even though we go to the parks pretty much every year it never gets boring other than burning a hole through your freaking wallet...jeez.
I was startruck because I definitely wasn't expecting to run into anyone let alone a boxer I like, it could of been some actor or actress and I would have probably been like "meh" but I'm a hardcore boxing fan so I was ****ting in exciment :D anyway Devon is cool as hell, wish I would of ran into him in the hotel's bar or something to watch the Dawson-Pascal fight that night, knock down some cold ones, but oh well.

i was starstruck when i met andre dirrell at a boxing card @ the bank atlantic center in sunrise :lol1: (he was casually walking around, probably going to take a piss or something) this was before he was even the in the super six. i still can't believe i didn't ask to take a picture with him
Alexander the fraud is a paper champion.
Kotelnik DOMINATED Alexander. That was the worst robbery I have ever seen.
I swear this dude isn't even a real person.
Nice job bro!

Has absolutely nothing to do with the thread.
Who cares? Stop trolling and stick to the topic.
Chill out it was a close fight.
Get your head out of your ass man, this thread is not about the fight.
No need to be trolling.
Agree with everyone but steelhammer, thread is not about the fight, its about the person. The fight was not a robbery, it was a close fight, maybe a rematch would be good, but not a robbery. And I am not even an Alexander fan, but stories like this could make me one.
Good stuff. Devon always comes across as such a down to Earth guy, glad to hear he's approachable with the fans.
Sidenote: I notice Devon wears his watch on his right wrist...i thought i was the only one. Always a plus....
Cool stuff, I hadn't even noticed that until you pointed it out :)

Yea, usually, people wear their watch on their non-dominate hand so they won't damage it since they won't use that hand as much. Devon is left handed, so he wears it on his right wrist. I'm right handed and I wear my watches on my left hand.

Nice pic...I've spoke with Winky before...along with Danny Jacobs and Sadam Ali...all good in my book...
I've been able to take a pic with B-Hop, Lennox, Berto, and Evander but didn't get to really speak with them...
Awesome man, cool experiences for sure for us hardcore boxing fans.

that a tight expeience bro, once in a lifetime to be exact. good to see my favorite prospect at 140 being chill xD, tnk for sharing bro.
No problem man, I just wish we could of chatted a bit longer but I didn't want to impose knowing the guy is with his family on vacation after fighting just a week ago. Although I'm more than sure he wouldn't of minded at all, very humble and down to earth dude.
Whether we like him in the ring or not, I don't think anyone doubts that he's a nice guy. Cool story.
Yep, it's once in a lifetime experience for most of us. Especially if the guy is nice outside the ring. He looks like Evander in there though. :boxing:
