According to Dan Rafael's twitter, "El Perro" turned down the fight. Now i think thats a dam good payday, but im pretty sure he doesn't want to get his 2nd loss on such a young career. Martinez would box circles around him. What happened to him saying after his last fight that he'll fight anyone, anywhere??? Just another protected fighter.
So why not fight Sergiy Dzinziruk bro.:boxing:
I'm not sure HBO wants that fight, and if they do they wouldn't pay much for it. I wouldn't mind seeing it, even though I got Martinez almost outclassing Sergei.
HBO has limited him to Williams, now is the first time I have even heard they were accepting an Angulo fight.
That makes a big difference if Martinez wanted the fight at 160 maybe Angulo felt that the weight would put him at a disadvantage.
With $750,000 on the line and a shot at the middleweight crown? Even if he loses NO one would say anything and he has a ready made excuse of saying 160 isnt for him.
I like both fighters and see it as a mismatch, so I might let it slide if Angulo takes on a Cotto, Mosley, Williams level fighter. Or Kirkland when he gets out.
Wayyyyyyyyyyy overrated. This dude made a living feasting off one style of fighter.
I think its bull**** how Pac gets killed for fighting the same style of fighter. Yet Martinez gets a free pass.
Williams
Cintron
Pavlik
Angulo
I sense a pattern there. I want to see him vs. a Mayweather or Collazo, or a Dzinziruk. A guy that can move and box. Not these brawlers all the time.
How can you say he's overrated when he beat Williams, Cintron, Pavlik, and the top boxers are ducking him?
Manny, Cotto, Williams, Angulo, and other top fighters don't want to fight him at 154 and 160.
Martinez is willing to fight anyone. Your boy Williams is still ducking him for a rematch because he doesn't want to get that ass taxed again. He's not overrated when he beat his last 3 opponents and he's the best fighter at 154 and 160.
Angulo is a developing junior middleweight. Why would he skip this developmental stage, jump up a weight class, and fight a southpaw counterpuncher. Martinez probably could find a middleweight to fight if he wanted to,
Maybe Angulo is thinking long term if he loses again like another poster mentioned earlier it will lead to fights on espn but if he continues to fight guys whose styles he can exploit a larger payday will eventually come. My only problem with that is why say you are ready to fight anyone and act like you are this fearless champion when in reality your not
This is Shaw's move man, but Perro must know about it. Gary Shaw must figure that he needs to take a page out of Arum's book to create that superstar and avoid bad styles, even if it takes straight up ducking.
He must figure that he'll take the heat for turning down the fight, but it's OK because people will forget and Angulo will eventually be in a good position.
:lol1:
Cintron is an athletic power puncher that changed his style to a counter puncher and give more lateral movement.
Williams is a southpaw pressure fighter that is 6'3 with one of the longest reaches under Lt. Heavyweight and can consistently put up 100+ punches per round.
Pavlik is a boxer-puncher, who is a huge middleweight that can throw up 60+ punches in a round easy and do it with power.
You're ridiculous... That's some hater **** right there.
What pattern do you sense Haley Joel?
So why not fight Sergiy Dzinziruk bro.:boxing:
Hmm none of those fighters fight the same. :pat:
I know he means none of those fighters have good footwork or box. Cintron has the best footwork out of the bunch, he showed us how good his footwork is against Williams when he jumped out of the ring.
But really, Cintron does have the best footwork out of those guys but none of them really box. Williams footwork is horrible, Pavlik has no legs at all. Angulo just comes forward.
Wayyyyyyyyyyy overrated. This dude made a living feasting off one style of fighter.

It doesn't really matter about notable when you have HBO paying an opponent $750K.
What notable opponent will he make that against?
Williams maybe... Pavlik maybe... Martinez is willing to go down to 155, but Shaw never wanted any. It was always a dog and pony show, he knows what's up.

Burns you are truly losing it
williams style is a lot different than angulos
at least cintron and williams have decent speed and pwill has freakish reach
packy gets all the advantages and fights the same style over and over
That is sad to read, and even worse that no one wants to fight the MW champion of the world because he is so dangerous yet even with is status not notable enough for the risk.

In other words, you dont wanna see him merk Williams again?
He did.
Rematch one: Williams offered him more money than Martinez wouldve made vs. Pavlik he chose Pavlik. Not knocking him for going after the belts but people act like Paul is afraid of him.
Rematch 2: Williams and Goosen again offer him the fight. Martinez still on cloud nine from Floyd mentioning him turned down Paul...again.
Dzizniruk: Said he wants to fight Martinez. Martinez says "Sergiy who?".
Martinez fans act like it never happened.
Where you gettin this bull****? How do you make more money fighting Paul Williams than Pavlik? LOL....Williams priced himself out of the Pavlik fight so Martinez stepped in his place, stepped on Pavlik and stole Williams' thunder...
Now Paul Williams wants to move to welterweight or get more than 50% of the cut to rematch Martinez. In other words....he dont want none. Stop fabricating sh-it
that would be a bad fight for Angulo
smart move
he isnt ducking just being smart
he loses to sergio then he is back on FNF
besides he wont get all that money so why do it
