UFC 114,116,&117 all it the Million mark in buyrates.
And UFC 111 GOT 850k, UFC 115 got 620k, UFC 113 got 520k, UFC 112 got 500k.
Damn, UFC know hot to bring in the PPV buys.......
Compare this to Pacquiao vs Clottey 600k, Mayweather vs Mosley 1.4mil, Diaz vs Marquez II 150k.
lol at all of these boxing stans getting their asses chapped. MMA whether you like it or not is growing in popularity. And its not just young white kids who are taking to it either. Fans of all backgrounds are enjoying MMA scraps. Boxing is shooting itself in the face with a full metal jacket. The prissy boxers, and the promoters are both to blame. I, a lifelong fan of boxing find myself becoming a fan of MMA as well. Too much bs in boxing is making it dull. No network coverage, great matchups never happening for various reasons, shady decisions and rankings, etc etc. MMA isn't going anywhere so long as it doesn't subscribe to boxings business model.
yeah.. i agree
lol. incredibly optimistic number.
With the price I'm guessing (i'm no pro, just throwing a number out there)....$79.99, there's 0 chance it does 3 million. It won't even scratch the record.
Imagine if Dana/Zuffa decide to put something ridiculous on the same night, just to compete....
Like a Machida/Rua rubber fight. Or a Silva/GSP fight. The Floyd/Manny fight would struggle to hit 1.2-1.5 million, IF that.
imagine mayweather-marquez... wait... already happened.:trink26:

Who cares if they do? MC Hammer's album went like 10x platinum while Nas' Illmatic couldn't even touch gold....what's popular isn't always necessarily better .....boxing is lights year better than MMA, I'm not hating neither because I do enjoy a good UFC card every once in a while (stream it of coarse)
and yup like everybody says, Dana White lies through his teeth....but more power to him for making idiots believe every word he says
I ask my self how do these events always end up doing big numbers once or twice a month when big UFC fans that I know dont even end up ordering the fights and instead watch them at bars or watch videos on the net after the fight. Its no secret around here that private companies are what they are called, private, no auditors no nothing.

you're on crack.
Only numbers I believe are the ones released by the cable companies, I don't believe any promoters or bloggers. The UFC numbers aren't official, they are just estimates from trending patterns. The UFC is a private company and they don't release the numbers.
I guess if Boxing PPV's went by estimates we could do a million every time also.
CNN had Pac vs Hatton doing 1.6 million to 2 million buys.

Actual numbers were 700k released by HBO
Kevin Iole said from good sources Marquez vs Mayweather could go all the way up to 1.6 million.

Number settled at 1,080,000.
Cotto vs Pac did 2 million buys according to "Reliable Sources"

The PPV settled at 1.25 million when HBO released the official buys.
WOW Great Post my friend this is the information I was trying to present. My cousin does give me what is the actual number of ppv buys and for the UFC they typically add 350,000 buys to what the actual buy rate is. Great Post Respect.

"We know based on those early numbers and based on experience the event will perform extremely well. If I had to guess, anywhere between 1.6 million and two million homes, which is a home run," he said.

The number could go as high as 1.6 million, as Kevin Iole told me last night over some back-and-forth messaging. Iole told me that a million is "definite," and says that HBO will release the numbers either today or on Thursday."

Cotto vs Pac did 2 million buys according to "Reliable Sources"
Rey Colón of the ´El Vocero´ of Puerto Rico reported that the welterweight mega-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto generated approximately 2 million pay-per-view buys generating at least $120 million. No word on what Pacquiao´s cut will be but Cotto was mentioned to be making at least $10 million minimum.

I've just received word from a very reliable source connected to the distributing cable companies of this recent "Fire-power" event featuring Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto has reached Pay-Per-View figures that are mind-blowingly high.
Word has it that the final tally for Pacquiao vs. Cotto has skyrocketed past it's predicted 1.2 or 1.3 million household projected and hit that vaunted 2 million mark.

It's because Dana White has a monopoly on all the best fighters. Continually matching up his best fighters to try to beat out boxing.
Also like someone mentioned, you have hundreds of thousands of bars buying practically every UFC fight in order to attract their target customers, Young White college kids.
What do young white college kids watch more? UFC or Boxing?
Arum, GBP, King are keeping all their fights in house instead of bringing boxing the best matchups.
This is what's hurting boxing.
Pac-May alone would bring in 3 mil+
All the while, Dana White is intentionally trying his hardest to outdo boxing.

what was the ufc doing from the month of sept to december?nothing really, most of their ppv's were not doin to good and at the same time boxing had floyd -marquez,cotto-pacquiao and williams martinez all very good fights. so just because the ufc has had 3 good ppv's and boxing has not done much this summer which usually happens in boxing doesn't really mean anything and i didn't see nothing special about the silva fight or the brock fight but i guess thats just my oppinion
easy wiki search. According to Deana Myers, a senior analyst at Kagan Research LLC (which tracks the PPV industry), "UFC has reinvigorated the pay-per-view category."

It's a known FACT that UFC is destroying boxing in PPV buys. This isn't hearsay, or "inside scoop" from someone's "cousin" who works at a "cable station" etc.
These are numbers from the Associated Press.
***there's one typo that I recognized... UFC 117 did not take place on 12/27/2008...it's chronologically wrong. It should read 8/8/10.
Before you go crazy marking out over ZUFFA dick, just remember that no numbers are ever released. I bet that Associated Press got their source from "trending estimates" made by pro-wrestling writers.
UFC is doing great no doubt, I don't think its affecting boxing much and if anything its building new combat sports fans that might also give boxing a try with enough hype.
Thanks Boxing for putting up the best fights available to us like Mayweather vs Pac.
Cotto vs Margarito 2
Martinez vs Williams 2
Bradley vs Alexander
Lopez vs Caballero/Gamboa
Wlad vs Haye
And many more
Thank You.
lolol.
Silva/Sonnen was nuts.
