Miguel Cotto is extremely popular throughout Latin America especially Puerto Rico and Mexico. Wladimir Klitschko is extremely popular throughout Europe especially Germany and Poland. Who do you think has more fans worldwide?
Most likely people in Asia couldn't even give a shit. There would be people who know Cotto in the Philippines but they wouldn't be a fan.
That's what I'd persume. Chinese, Japanese are different people, no reason why they should give a shit.
Wlad, he has been and is the HW champion and the most un-common fans care about is the HW champ. Also at being so tall and having a brother just as tall with a belt. This guy has been all over the world and is a more recognized figure. Plus the KOs that he gets brings him alot of fans
Cotto is more popular than Wladimir Klitschko. Wlad sell out stadiums in Germany and Eastern Europe. But that's it. Wlad is known but he's not very popular, he's not a people's champ.
The thing is though is that Cotto is only really popular in the Americas (not sure if he's that well known in south america) . In the other 4 continents I would say people are much more likely to have heard of the name Klitschko than Cotto.

Wladimar by miles. More then likely if you know little about boxing in Europe the only men they will reconize is the K'bros. Also Wlad being with Hayden gives him far more popularity to. Miguel Cotto is popular in Latin america/America but chances are nobody has heard of him in Europe!
Wladimir klitschko because he banged hayden.

Hahaha I love that pic.
"Shhhh, this can be our little secret..."
And yes, as has been mentioned before, Wlad packs venues like its nobody's business. Way more than Cotto can ever do.
Wlad by miles and miles.
Cotto may be popular through latin america but only as far as sports fans are concerned whereas in Europe the Klitschko brothers are mainstream celebrities.
Boxing was buzzing with Pacquiao vs Clottey drawing in about 51,000people at the gate which was the 3rd most in U.S. history but Wlad draws in about 60,000people every single time he fights in Europe.
Yeah I was just wondering who is the third most popular boxer on the planet because Pacquiao and Mayweather without question are the top two. I was thinking what is the second biggest fight that boxing can offer beside Pacquiao vs. Mayweather. Thanks for the response.
I think the most popular boxers are retired- Ali, Tyson, Duran etc. As for active fighters than i think Vitali is more popular than his brother.
The second biggest fight probably would be Vitali K vs Haye.
Cotto was born in the US and grew up in PR as did Benitez. Cotto fought at MSG several times, he is more popular in North America and Wlad more popular in Europe. The fact that Cotto fought Pacman will give some exposure to Asian fans. I tend to think it is pretty much depends where they go? But i slightly think Wlad is more known, as he speaks 5 languages and has one work for the United Nations with his brother and has traveled places in Africa that Cotto would never be known.
May i ask what was the motive for the thread?
