From a Thomas Hauser article in 2007:
At the final stop on the media tour (a September 21st press conference in Manchester), Hatton told Mayweather. “All week, you’ve bad-mouthed Ricky Hatton. But none of it has worked, and it’s a waste of time trying to upset me and my fans. Floyd, you’re pissing in the wind.”
At the same stop, Mayweather began stroking Ricky’s leg, and Hatton responded, “Stop trying to feel my dick, Floyd. All week, you’ve been talking about kicking my ass and now you’re feeling my dick. I’m getting worried about you. People ask me whether I’ve missed my six year old son, Campbell. I have in many ways. But to be honest, I’ve spent the whole week with this ****ing six-year-old next to me, so nothing has changed there.”
From the article I got the impression that all the trash talk Floyd usually employs to unerve his opponents had absolutely no effect on Hatton.
It was only until then he tried to touch his leg to mess with his head.
If this is the case, then he is a master of psychology.
More like master of annoyance.
The shit talking is unneeded and shows a lack of respect to all of boxing when it becomes personal jabs at his opponents. He plays the villain character well.

Sometimes you have to hurt those you love

I just wanted to know whether he was trying to get to Hatton psychologically.
It obviously didn't work but I also recall in the Mosley presser where Floyd grabbed Shane's hand and that seemed to piss him off.
