One among the greatest fighters to come out of mexico. Call me crazy but I think if Morales wins his next fight and continues training we could see a couple more good fights from him. Morales still has some pop at 135, he put down Hernandez and Chavez at 130 and put down Diaz at 135. I have been a fan since Morales/Barrera 1 February 19th 2000 at the Mandalay Bay, I was watching on TV of course but I was so amazed at Morales's toughness on that night, I watched every fight of his ever since that day, got every payperview. And all the while I have been a solid fan of the sport watching practically every FNF HBO, Showtime, PPV whatever. But the PPV's have gotten ridiculous so I don't get all of them anymore.
then what? winning the next 3fights after took a beating againstt Manny? is that how Junior Jones raped Barrera? Barrera won his next 3 fights after the Pacquiao bout, 2 of them were by a K.O. FACTS
i don't know whats your point but im just stating that junior jones KOed barrera first before pac did it..:grumble:
Erik's Physical prime was at 122. He was never primed anywhere else above 122 :)
He was a MONSTER at this weight with all those skills and formidable POWER at the weight.
He was superb at 126 and 130 but he relied more on his boxing ablities. Remember how he cant put In Jin Chi away at 126? or how he finessed Famose at 130? Those performance was great but is lacking from what a prime Morales would have done at 122. and that is finish off the opponent.
He started to gain weight in between fights after the Raheem fight he was as heavy as 170. The dedication and discipline were gone.
Pac was not technically primed but he was only 26. Big big credit for Morales for that win.
fair credit due to Pac in the 2nd fight and less credit in the third.
It was legal because JMM was holding the ropes. :D
Why fantasy fight a non-prime pac to those dates when those fighters were in their Primes? How about a prime Pac now versus whatever date you pick for those great fighters.
Prime Pac>>>Prime Barrera>Prime Morales>>>Prime Hamed.
:grumble:
Admittedly, I wish we got to see Hamed owned by all those other guys. Where was Pac when Hamed was at the top? Was he still down below a few divisions?
he wasn't down. he was laying on the ropes. fair play.
i honestly think pac beats any version of barrera. just a guess.
morales beats pacquiao.
hamed i think is 50/50 either a pacquiao decision or hamed by ko.
this is all assuming pacquiao with roach. it'd be unfair to put pacquiao pre-wild card gym in there with those 3 greats.
Yep, Barrera would always struggle with the lefty+speed and power thing that Pac's got going. Can you imagine a Hamed/Pac fight? It would break every record for straight left power punches thrown. By round six they would simply forget about using the right hand and just hold each other with it while throwing left after left after left! We would see more lefts thrown in that fight than in the history of the sport combined. What a hilarious fight that would have been.
I wonder how many KD's would occur? I have a feeling that Hamed's inconsistency would lose him that fight though. It's highly possible he takes Pac out but if he can't then I think a decision would go to Pac. I also wonder how Pac would fare with the frustration of facing someone like Hamed though.
Oh, and what's with all this non-prime Pac bollocks? A four time world champion across four divisions or whatever it was is not in his prime even after facing all those champions and former champions? Come on guys, keep it real. Don't get all weird on me.
Or are you saying we can discount Roberto Duran's loss to Esteban DeJesus after beating Ken Buchanan for the lightweight title? Just because he wasn't as polished or at his peak form and didn't fight as well as shown in later fights against De Jesus, Leonard, Palomino? Or are you still going to say that after four world championships, and 45 pro fights across ten/eleven years at 27/28 years old he's not in his prime? Or is he only in his prime when he is winning easily? Makes it a good excuse for his close fights and losses I guess. "No, he wasn't in his prime against Morales and Marquez. He started his prime against David Diaz and it ends when he next has a close fight or loses."
Yep, Duran wasn't in his prime against De Jesus in 1972, even after beating HOFers Ken Buchanan, Ernesto Marcel and Hiroshi Kobayashi and having had fifty or so fights.
Hmmm, let's see...Barrera also wasn't in his prime when he lost to Junior Jones either. So they don't count. Kostya Tszyu wasn't in his prime against Vince Phillips either.
:theyareon
Hey cunt! Shut up. Pac hit Marquez when he was down the third time. That's the only reason he stayed down for longer, but then he jumped back up, and like you said, owned Pac the rest of the fight!
:boxing:
I wonder what would have happened if Pac had come on the stage earlier, when Barrera and Morales were in their primes and most of all, I wonder what would have happened if he had fought Hamed.....
What say you Mr Tua?
he wasn't down. he was laying on the ropes. fair play.

To be honest neither pacquiao nor morales were in their prime when they fought in their fights. Well Pac was close in the 3rd fight but by that point morales was completely shot and I remember at the time being pissed that a 3rd fight happened in the first place! I love Erik Morales, one of the most talented and true warriors in the history of the sport. The guy had the skills in his prime to use his long reach to easily outbox his opponents with his underrated counter punching but he wanted to give the fans a show everytime that he stepped into the ring. It just wasn't in his nature to go into a fight and not go into beast mode! Haha there will never be another fighter like him that's damn true!!!
Oh and Morales got screwed in that second Barrera fight, morales CLEARLY deserved to win!
Oh for ****s sake cunt! Sorry for grabbing the first video that popped up on utube. Go get the last round of Zaragoza/Morales then. No, Pac didn't make Morales look like that. Erik's dead legs and bad condition/weight loss training made him look like that. Pac exploited it but he most definitely did not make it happen.
Happy? Still able to dance and move around and that was one vicious, hard ass, hard fought, fast paced fight and it was only his second fight going that distance and against a bona fide (albeit older) first ballot HOFer. He gets caught here because he was starting to simply hunt down and try to do that Zaragoza, but in the rounds previously leading up to that KO he was still moving, sticking, dancing, boxing beautifully. Very different fighter.
Anyway, stop ****ing bringing Pac and his eye excuses up. Next you'll start talking about his damn socks. Let's keep this on Morales and his brilliance. Apart from Pac/Morales 1 and Barrera fights, what is everyone's favourite Morales fight?
oh did i hurt your feelings? :lol1: EM is one of my favorite fighters dumbass so i wouldnt ever bring him down but im giving credit where it's due too unlike you, you speak of the pac fights as if pac didnt exist retard.
stupid referee should have stopped that fight after the 3rd knockdown.
marquez would still be a nobody.

while i agree em may not be at his peak, he definitely wasnt past it in the 2nd pac fight. give credit where it's due, pac made him look like that IN the fight. and even if erik had won the first one, pac gave him a beating too IN that fight, while fighting blindly w/ one bloody eye.
and lol at comparing rd10 of pac-em2 where erik was already beaten up badly in the earlier rounds to rd2 of junior jones.

He had everyting
Morales had everything.
Speed, Power, Skills, Granite Chin, Heart.
He could outbox you if he wanted or else he could beat you by standing toe2toe and just slug it out.
His one weakness maybe is that he wa sto brave for his own personal well being. His my favorite fighter of all time below 147lbs.
I truly do not understand how anyone can pretend he wasn't well past it. His legs didn't work properly, he was off balance a lot, missed punches, had little defense to speak of in comparison to years past. It's laughable and anyone saying he was still prime for any of those fights is just saying so for one biased reason. For Gods sake! Just look how flat footed and static he looks on those fights! I hate watching them because you can see his downfall in them.
Pacquiao version of Morales.
Prime Morales
See how different he is on his feet? He's faster, moves really well, boxes much better, has good balance and is overall just much better.

We know because compared to his 122 best he looked like shit, yes, even in the first fight. He was slow as hell, had no balance or legs and was hurt much, much easier and his overall boxing skill, defense and counter punching had gone from great to just good. For anyone who has actually followed his whole career it is really, really easy to notice how far downhill he had gone by that stage.
He had been going downhill badly by Chavez and Barrera III. Barrera still had something left which is why the third fight was so much clearer a win for Barrera. Morales just had very little left. It was his last great fight but by no means did he fight his best. He still looked lethargic and off balance.
Watch Pac I and II now or even just a few rounds. Straight after, go and watch him fight Junior Jones or even Zaragoza in his prime. If you can't see a huge difference you are blind.
I don't think he was past his best, I think he was damn well nearly shot to shit. Straight after he goes and gets absolutely owned by Zahir Raheem, who beat him worse than Pac did in that he lost every single round and was hurt numerous times. It was bloody tragic. This is the same Raheem that had just lost to Rocky Juarez in his previous fight and would go on to lose to Acelino Freitas in his next fight while Erik went on to look truly shot to shit and get KD for the first time.
It's blind to say he wasn't well past it and a major discredit to him. In his prime nothing like that second and third fight would have ever happened to him, no matter what some fools think.
Damn this is a good post.
