Really? He's pretty young, so I thought he just grew out of 147. It's a sign that losing those pounds might be straining him, so unless he stays in shape, he won't be able to make 147 too much longer. He's fighting every 2-3 months, so that's probably 1 of the reasons (to keep him in the gym).
Yeah bro thats exactly what he said.He dont want to strain his body to
147 within a couple of months. But he made it clear he wants his first
title shot at 147.But he does look like a tank at fight time,So i expect
him to be moving up soon.
He's purposley going in at 150.He said his next fight will be at 150 to.
He will go down to 147,when he gets a title shot.

It's hard for people to back away from the hype train and look at it from a point of view where you take styles into account.
I remember not too long ago most thought Porter would beat Kirkland, not too long after that that Henry would beat Porter and Kirkland, after he didn't look too good in his last fight, they've retracted the Henry beating Kirkland thinking, but most still got him over Porter .
Porter made 147 for his last fight and Alvarez hasn't been able to get past 150 in his last couple fights. Let's see what happens in the future.

Yeah I think it'd be more competitive than people are making out. Though he isn't very tall, Porter is a solid 154 pounder. Alvarez is a WW that's having a hard time making weight (from having too much fun dating a former Miss Mexico) and was rocked by a medium hitting lightweight not too long ago.
I'd bet on Porter with some odds.

People started sleeping on Porter, forgetting that his last 2 fights were against 2 6 foot southpaws; 1 that's a crafty vet/journeymen and the other a good amateur with 100+ fights...
Porter's conditioning is up there with the best, he has good athleticism and technique, solid speed, power, and heart.
Right now, I'd go with the upset. After Canelo gets his grown man strength (where he'll have to move up or starve to make 147), I'll take Alvarez because of his counter punching and boxing ability (and his natural talent is good too).

the gap will only get bigger.
I tottally agree. Saul is better but with time saul will be a hell of a fighter while shawn only improves little......Ive watch alot of his fights and i have not seen him improve one bit...Who's his trainer because he hasn't helped him out at all......Has anyone ever seen shawn throw a jab?
