BT: Tim why the move to 47, I think they are trying to make you viable for Floyd or Manny if they can't get together. I think you are the most deserving fighter to fill that void if they can't come to terms.
TB: Thanks I appreciate that, if they can't get it together I would be happy to step up. I'm taking this fight at 47 though because there was nobody else to fight. The fight with Maidana fell through and nobody was available, so I want to see how I feel. If I feel good, I will go back n forth.
BT: Many people thought you didn't want to fight Alexander , but I understand that boxing is also a business and everything is not as easy as it seems.
TB: Your absolutely right. I have no problem fighting anybody if the money is right.
So wait he says he's fighting for money then fights Abregu???
I'm lost.
Dude is changing from a bad mother****er into a kermit cintron-level laughing stock ver, very fast.
Dude's going to be nothing but a punchline if he doesn't stop bullshitting the hardcore fans of boxing, because it's not like anyone else know's who the hell he is.
as usual you're right on coach. Cunningham already said they'd fight a neutral site.
This is correct. It was Bradley who said he was willing to fight in St. Louis, not Devon. And a lot of fighters fight at home anyways. Floyd does it, Cotto does it, Mosley does it, Bradley does it, Ward does it, etc.
He wasn't lying. There weren't any other options. When Bradley-Abregu was first in the talks, Devon hadn't even beaten Urango yet and he was already scheduled to fight in June. As I mentioned, he could have dropped the date for Devon, but the point still stands. At that moment, there were no fights. Same goes for the second time it was signed.
And if Bradley didn't want to fight him, then why did he accept the challenge? Team Alexander didn't even try to get the fight. Devon signed for that August 7th date before he even had an opponent. Why would he do that when there's one in front of him? Kotelnik wasn't mentioned until Bradley and Maidana agreed to fight and he felt Kotelnik would be a good "1up". The fighters both want it, but the team didn't even try. So don't blame it on Bradley.
Care to explain this, Burner? You know Ima keep bugging you until you do. I'm a reasonable dude, if someone proves me wrong I'll admit it, but you've yet to explain this.
I think he is trying to get the big names by going to this weight, Manny, Floyd...
I'd be interested in seeing him fight those two, I just think he has some unfinished business at 140.
Abregu makes no sense unless Bradley plans on staying at WW.
Abregu makes perfect sense, Bradley has to test the welter before jumping right in and Abregu is a solid undefeated welter...If Bradley looks impressive, doors will open up for him, there already been talks about a Berto fight.. If things don't look promising at 147 then he can always come back down to 140.. you can't fault the guy for chasing the big money fights...
Bradley won't be able to duck Maidana or Ortiz, who will possibly start making their way to 147 soon. maybe by end of next year.
damn Timmy...I understand boxing is a business...but you're not a household name yet.
It makes perfect sense..
Alexander was available..for shit Money and the boy is scared to leave St. Louis..
Alexander-Bradley is the biggest fight that could be made at '40 and it will probably remain that way for the next couple years..khan only fights twice a year and wants washed up fighters..
The build up for Bradley-Alexander could be huge in due time..it's basically an investment..it's risky cuz u gotta stay undefeated to cash in, in the end..but wtb no risk there is no reward..
Now fighting Abregu isn't the best idea..in most of our eyes..but Hardcore fans like us KNOW the 140 division is GREAT but 147 is where the money is..so to get your feet wet against an undefeated power hitter in Abregu is what it takes to get a glimpse of 147..so be it..remember tho..after Abregu he's also said he wants Cotto at '54 Paul Williams and Berto at '47...etc..so he wants the names that are established..if he can't get those he'll go back to Maidana, Ortiz, etc and waits for the Alexander bout to catch more buzz...
Timothy Bradley is amongst my favorite..(actually 2nd to Cotto) so I could be somewhat biased...but it makes perfect sense to me..
What makes you say that Devon was scared to leave St. Louis?
bradley deserves an easy one if he wants, I just don't like what he is saying..
I don't have a problem with one warm up fight either since he has to get the HBO audience familiar with him. But just dead this shit of money talk just like you say. And the fact he's moving up to 147 makes a lot of people including me get the notion he has no intention of settling unfinished business at 140. The fight doesn't mean that much at a higher weight because they wouldn't be ranked #1 and #2 respectively like they are at Jr Welter.
it is one thing to say you are not going to fight a guy "RIGHT NOW" but it is another thing when it looks like you actually have NO PLAN on fighting top guys in your division AT ALL like Amir Khan
I am a big Alexander fan and even I would admit that he is the least known guy out of all the top 140 lbs fighters right now so Bradley is correct the money is probably not their RIGHT NOW, fighting Abregu is a great test to see how he does at 147, Abregu is not just some EASY Warm Up fight or something that is going to be a good test for Bradley and if he is impressive at 147 then that could lead to a even bigger fight with probably Berto at 147
sure we want to see the fights we want to see but fans have to stop being selfish, this is a business, these guys have every damn right to try and get the MOST MONEY they can
I dont get it.
I dont see the correlation between him lying and saying that there was no one else he could fight.
Alexander got a fight signed because Bradley didn't want to fight him.

Sure he could have fought Devon so that is a BS excuse but I don't see how it is a duck or him cherrypicking by moving up in weight to fight an unbeaten contender with ko power.
If he dominates Abregu, its a solid win considering it would be his 1st fight in his move up to WW and consider that maybe he just couldn't make the weight anymore.
I read an interview like the one you posted where he said he was up to 165.
An unbeaten, unknown contender with ok power. Would be a pretty good achievement.
If
he didn't pass on a guy with two belts in his own weight class....over "money". Safe to say he's not breaking the bank with Abregu.
I love how everyone's ignoring this post. Its comical, really.
Go on, keep avoiding the post.

Yes, I FINALLY found it!
TB: "I'm not sure yet. I'm not sure what my promoter has planned. I saw that fight last night and Devon Alexander looked good and that fight looks pretty nice to me. It should be my next fight."
GL:: Devon was on ********** earlier saying the same thing. They're ready to make it happen in June or asap.
Timothy Bradley: "Let's do it. The money has be right, we definitely have to put this fight on HBO. It's a huge fight and I"m sure Showtime is going to show us love because it's a big fight, but like I said, it's all about the numbers from this point on, but I'm willing to fight him with no problem."
Now what did Cunningham/Team Alexander do after this interview? They came on BoxingScene and started talking s**t for the next four months and accuse him of ducking. Did they call Gary Shaw? No. Did they try to call ANYONE from Team Bradley? No. The clock was ticking, and Timmy did have a June date scheduled since like last year, so he had no choice but to look elsewhere. But the thing is, he could have easily dropped Abregu for Alexander (like he did for the Maidana bout). But what did Alexander do afterwards? Signed for an August date. That completely ruined the possibility of the fight. If you don't believe me and want more interviews, I'll be happy to give you an entire timeline of information as proof.
Let's see how long this post gets ignored...In fact, I should copy this to a new thread.
Go on, keep avoiding the post.
bradley deserves an easy one if he wants, I just don't like what he is saying..
They sound like lines fed to him by Gary Shaw.
Not too long ago, he was saying that he just wanted to prove he's the best. He has little/no Mayweather in him. Bradley wants the biggest money fight, even if they come with the biggest challenges, instead of the biggest money for the smallest challenges. There's a difference.
Bradley will fight Alexander, Maidana, or Berto after this fight and I don't mention Khan because Amir is going to cherry pick JMM after Diaz.
Unless you count agreeing with him through an interview as trying to talk to him, yes that is what I'm saying. But I'll take this to another thread because I know the haters will ignore the post.
one thing I have to add is that bradley was signed to fight maidana, and that's no duck fight.
the important thing is what bradley does after abregu. just don't say no one will fight you anymore and you're only looking for the $ fights
