Berto gets dumped on a lot here because he seems to lack some fundamentals that would seem to be basic. I have heard many refer to his style as one more suited to the amateurs. I think the problem s more with the approach than anything. I think he needs to have a mentality more similar to Pacquiao. See both guys have crazy speed and can punch. The problem with Berto is he tries to explode with big shots even when there are no openings. He continuously does it and it causes him to tire in some fights. The way Pacquiao uses his speed is more effective. Pacquiao allows his opponent to get a false sense of confidence. Once he gets them in an exchange he uses his speed and blindsides them. Berto would be more effective if he timed his aggressiveness with speed and uppercuts in exchanges where he can blindside his opponents. He need someone to teach him implement it.
Oh, I see what you mean. I thought you meant do things fundamentally like Pacquiao.
Doing things fundamentally like Pacquiao will get people ktfo.
As someone mentioned the fact that Pac is both fast and left handed helps his style. Though Berto is a right he throws some beautiful uppercuts and could use a strategy with his speed that is somewhat similar.
Not doing things exactly like Pac but using his speed to blindside instead of just throwing continuous fast looping shots that his opponents expect. Look at how Pac caught Cotto with the second knockdown. He hide the speed until the middle of the exchange and just blindsided him.

He broke into the scene shortly after highlighting his hair...coincidence? I think not.
I could see Haiti getting behind Berto in a similar fashion that the Philippines have got behind Pac. Berto would have to have some real BIG victories to get that rolling though.

Berto will continue to improve, I don't know why some people hate on this guy so much, I think fighting Collazo again and winning in a dominating fashion would shut a lot of haters up
sure his defense needs work, I am sure he would be the first to admit that but offensively I think Berto has a lot of skills, excellent hands speed, some very nice combos and some of the best uppercuts in boxing today
I agree. He has the physical aspect and seems to have the heart. He just needs the strategy now IMO.
Why the hell would he want to be Pacquiao?

he needs to let roger train him
He needs someone to teach him strategy. He seems to want to win badly but he needs someone to incorporate game plans. Roger might not be the fit here.

I don't think Roger can train anybody but Floyd, thats his blood and floyd understand him. Roger talks a lot of S%it lol, I don't think Berto can handle that
Most people go down from punches they don't see coming in Bertos case you know what's coming but on occasion his speed accumulates to power. In the case of Pacquiao his left hand is a right handed fighters worst nightmare b/c it's coming from a different direction and it unexpected more often than not, not to mention Pac is like a damn stick of dynamite
All very true. Pac left can can put on queer street in a split second. Berto throws a beautiful uppercut and some quick flashy looping shots. Imagine if he threw those when his opponents are not ready for them. He could definitely gets guys out of there. Because he always throws hard his opponents see it and stay ready for it. He needs someone to teach him to save those shots for the right moments.
If Berto could surprise guys with a punch like what Pac does he would be more of a finisher. Berto had a good KO percentage before he started fighting better quality opponents because he didn't have to set much up. When he started fighting guys with more class simple head hunting didn't get the same results.

I agree with a lot of your statement except the punch part. Pac is an electric puncher and generates a lot from his legs. IMO, Berto is not a puncher. Sure some of his punches are pretty to watch but rarely do they seem(at least to me) that he really hurts the guy in the same sense that Pac can.

There are plenty of Andre Berto's and Zab Judah's for all the Manny Pacquaio's out there. You can't teach heart, and you can't teach skill to students who don't have the IQ to learn the lessons.

Berto should not try PEDs. He is already a good fighter.
