UFC/MMA is not a true art it is just pure violence, how long do you think it will be around? How many shows will they do? Do you think there will be a UFC 400? That is the lamest way to name an event by number.
well, you don't have to be a genius to know that getting hit in the head 500 times in a fight is worse for than getting hit 50 times.

this an article on injuries in mma. it's pretty long though.
this is the conclusion of it:
The overall injury rate in
MMA competitions is now similar to other combat
sports, including boxing. Knockout rates are lower
in MMA competitions than in boxing. This suggests
a reduced risk of TBI in MMA competitions when
compared to other events involving striking.
the type of injuries you suffer in mma are superficial injuries like cuts, busted noses......but you a have a lot smaller chance of getting brain damage since you don't have the repeated blows to the head, in most cases. of course there are always exceptions (and yes there are also mma fighters who are puunch drunk and have taken too much damage) but i'm talking about generally.
like i said before i am a fan of boxing but sometimes i don't mind watching mma too and i'm not interested in the discussions about which sport is better, boxing or mma, but i still think that people should do their research and not just say mma is ''pure violence''.
MMA has rules just like boxing. There is no biting, poking, low blows and any of that sort. MMA is a sport, not pro wrestling.
iin boxing you punch the other guy in the face and in mma you can do that or take him down and submit him.
if you are actually interested in knowing a bit more about mma then check out some brazilian jiu jitsu stuff (ground fighting, submissions) 'cause that is a very very important part of mma.
just for the record, i don't want to make anybody like mma because i prefer watching boxing too, i just want you guys to respect it as a sport
yeah but mma fighters fight much less than boxers
which studies are these? we can not know yet as mma fighters arent old enough to know the long lasting damage

i am more of a boxing fan than an mma fan, but are you aware of the fact that boxing is a lot worse for your brain and health in general than mma?! you constantly get hit in the head and if you go down you have the chance to get up again.
in mma you can get submitted (which is better for your health than getting knocked out since you can tap out and don't get hit)
and if you get knocked down the fight can be pretty much over because you don't have any time to recover. so you may get hit 1 or 2 more times when you're down and it's over. as opposed to getting up get hit 50 times again.
there are many studies that prove that mma is better for your health than boxing.
mma takes a lot of dedication and skill. you have to train multiple arts at the same time. these people are professional athletes just like boxers are.
i don't know why people have to be so ignorant?!

If you don't watch it why do you think its so horrible? Because you dont understand it? It actually takes a lot of discipline to become proficient in different forms of fighting i.e. jiu jitsu, wrestling, and striking then implementing them all simultaneously. The fact the sport continuously grows shows there is clearly an interest in it.
co-sign!
i can't stand people who talk shit about things they don't know anything about!
How ya gonna tell some one to halt expression? You telling me from now to the end of your time you will never use these words together one after the other: "I dont like...."
Tight sig btw.
this is Non-Stop Boxing.
take the ufc shit to the mma lounge or the lounge.
if you want to complain about UFC go to a UFC website.
you go to a boxing website to post "boxing is better than UFC" of course everyone is gonna agree.
the guy is just looking for a pat in the back.
just because you don't like it, that doesn't mean that it's not a sport, or not entertaining, or not an "art"
kung fu isnt an art? muay thai isn't an art? what about all the martial art disciplines? GTFO here kid.
I love boxing as the next person on here, but the competition between both is like a bunch of girls saying which celeb is cuter.
They're both cute!
wait wut?
Another reason why UFC PPVs sell well is because they put more than one big fight on the card making it real good value. You'll have a big fight like Mayweather v Mosley as the main event and on the undercard they'd put fights on which are probably as big as Khan v Maidana, Marquez v Diaz, Klitschko v Povetkin.
You'd never get a card like that in boxing.
It appeals to the lowest common denominator.
I remember when i was younger, no-body i knew ever cared about boxing, but all the youngsters seem to love UFC, you don't need an attention span to watch it, its just straight up violence, this is why chavs in the uk love it, I don't consider it a sport, an art form like I do boxing. I respect the men involved in it, but the majority of the MMA fanbase are ignorant, and thickYou must be young? Growing up through jr high and highschool I never once heard anything about UFC, or MMA for that matter, no one was watching it. I first heard about UFC in 2006. Then noticed some people that I went to HS with were now into MMA. I think MMA is catching on to alot of people because it has more of a street fight factor to it. The youngins have always loved watching some fights break out.
then don't watch it.
don't talk about it.
don't write about it.How ya gonna tell some one to halt expression? You telling me from now to the end of your time you will never use these words together one after the other: "I dont like...."

There are a few issues I have with boxing right now.
1. It takes too long to make a star. A Mayweather/DLH level star literally takes a decade to make. Whereas the UFC can take a former NCAA champ and pro wrestler with 5 fights and sell a million PPV's
2. It takes too long to make fights people really want to see there are so many fights in boxing we never got to see due to money, promoter issues etc. This rarely happens in the UFC if you are in the same division you fight...
3. I dont think there is any boxer outside Pac/Floyd that can sell over 500K PPV. If im wrong please correct me. UFC consistently does over 400-500k with every card...
Well UFC's biggest star came into the sport with millions of fans (Brock lesnar), he was a superstar before he ever stepped in that ring. There is nobody else that gained that amount of popularity after a few fights for a reason. And also that just shows that any jacked up idiot wrestler can compete in that sport, while with Boxing it takes a long time to build a star because your life needs to be dedicated to it. You can't just decide overnight that you want to be a boxer and instantly fight for the world title lol...unlike in that "sport"
The UFC does nothing near the numbers that are thrown out there. They are a private company and can claim they make or do anything, where as hbo is a public company and must record real numbers and real profits.
The interest is the blood and quick knockouts and it is not the sport. Saying it is all the fighting forms used simultaneously is not true. It would be like let's play soccer and while your playing someone starts dribbling the ball like a basketball and then someone tackles someone like in American Football does not make any sense. Jackie Chan stated “I don’t like to see Ultimate Fighting,” Chan said. “As a martial artist, I find it too violent putting them in a cage. At the end, it’s not fighting anymore. That’s not the martial arts. Martial arts is about respect. When somebody is knocked down, stop. I really respect Sugar Ray Leonard. Come on, stop. Don’t fight. That’s not the spirit. When you’re down, I’ll grab you up. Are you okay? Should we continue? That’s the martial arts spirit. That’s what I want.”

Im not saying everyone who watches it is ignorant or thick, don't get me wrong, but most of them are, whereas most people who watch a lot of boxing are involved in the sport, and respect it's history and tradition, again not all, but most
Honestly that's one of boxing's biggest problems right now. It doesn't appeal to the mainstream public or mainstream sports fan. When boxing was more popular most "fans" were likely clueless about the tradition and history. When boxing has more clueless fans it means it's thriving...
I bring this up because whenever I talk about boxing or fights my friends are like isn't boxing dead and UFC huge and I am like **** no they are not on boxing's level all those numbers that bald **** says are all bullshit UFC 100 did 900,000 buys not 1.6
I do not watch it but I am wondering what do you think the future of it is?
