SRR will forever be the GOAT, whether he deserves it or not.
Agree/Disagree?
What i mean by that, is even if someone comes along that is even greater then SRR, nobody will EVER admit it.
SRR legacy is etched in stone. Nobody will ever be able to make the claim that they are greater then SRR without being laughed at
Before the TS does a topic like this he should look into the history of boxing.
Back then as it has been told many times before title fights were 15 rounds, weigh-in on the same day, only 8 weight clases, one champion per weight class, etc. Even being a contender or a top fighter was much more than these champions we have no a days cause there are so many weight classes and title organizations.
You had to fight you way to it and on top of that politics had a heavy bearing on it. SRR ddin't do more in his WW days cause of the politics of the day. He even took time off to open a club which failed a came back to boxing. I would look a little deeper before making comments. It is a reason why some fighters from back in the day a still remember and honered as great fighters. We will have great fighters in our era but it is a lil different.
Will anyone score more KO's (136) than Archie Moore? It's possible but not likely. SRR will be recognized as the greatest for the rest of our lifetime. Agree
Never. Boxrec actually has him ranked as #1 P4P over SRR. It's blastphemy but it speaks volumes.

Disagree.
If someone with the balls would have AT LEAST 100-150 pro fights, beating the best opposition possible. Then they can be considered as GOAT.
But in this day of age, no one hardly fights more than 2-3 fights a year.
Agreed.
Look at a guy like Chad Dawson. Who I'm a big fan of. He hasn't fought since November in a fight where he took barely any punishment. But because of television and promoters, he isn't fighting until July. This is a prime fighter.
Prime fighters should be fighting 3-4 times a year at least.
Boxers will come along and the argument will be made they are better than SRR.
But because SRR is an ATG, there will people who will defend SRR to their last breath. So in some peoples minds, certain boxers will be better than SRR in their opinion but you will get others who think otherwise. Its what makes the world go round.
Disagree.

When Pacquiao beats Cotto for his 8th belt in diferent weight classes and then goes onto beat Margarito. OR just simply beats PBF.
Then he has surpassed SRR and will be the GOAT.
LMAO. No. Beating a guy you already beat and a guy with a career built on cheating doesn't get you there. PBF gets him close.

HE can beat all 3 of them in a row and I would still have to disagree!!
Everytime I hear people talking about this, I feel like they're trying to say that he wasn't that great. Then I usually go find myself a video like this to remember.
When you look at his resume, it actually doesn't even do him justice. He fought far past his prime and that's where the majority of his losses came.
173-19-6 (108 KOs)
Even today he would be whooping ass IMO. Not many boxers stand the test of time, but Sugar Ray will.
For the nonbelievers....
Most people in a top 10 list should have an argument for #1 imo.
Depends on who you have there.
Mine is in no particular order
Sugar Ray Robinson
Henry Armstrong
Sam Langford
Joe Gans
Harry Greb
Benny Leonard
Barney Ross
Willie Pep
Ezzard Charles
Bob Fitzsimmons
It changes all the time though.
Could easily swap someone in there for Barbados Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, Roberto Duran or others.
If it happened I would have no problem admitting it. But if you break everything down, no one is coming close right now based on accomplishments. Does that mean nobody could beat Robinson? No. I'm basing it on his career.
Pretty much how I feel.
SRR will forever be the GOAT, whether he deserves it or not.

Not completely true but along those lines. Grab someone off the street who doesn't know boxing and they will tell you Ali is because thats what you always hear, and half of this site is Mayweather fans and almost all them would try to tell you that Mayweather is.
Damn. Does everything have to turn into a Mayweather vs Pacquiao thread? Seriously.
it doesnt, and it isnt. in light of floyds recent brags as greater than ali srl and srr, and he's the only one to brag about it, it just can't helped being included in this kind of debates.
pac is nowhere in this.
and thats how it should be, based on career or resume. not from woulda coulda shoulda scenarios that floyd spits out to brag that he's greater :lol1:
