Disclaimer: This thread is not about how I just got a new puppie. There is a Boxing/MMA rift in the air, every one knows it. Me as a boxing guy and boxing guy only would like to discuss certain feats of this rift with other fellow boxing guys. My interest in this thread is seeing responses from NSB and NSB only. Also, count how many times I wrote the word "boxing."
So the UFC 114 PPV numbers came out at around $900,000
900,000 x 44.95= $40,455,000 + the gate revenue of $3,895,000.
lets subtract fighters purses.
$44,350,000
$435,000
- $250,000
$43,665,000
Where does the other $43,665,000 of the total revenue go?
Cant be marketing because they wouldn't be crazy enough to spend more than 500k for that or else they would cough up 3 million for a super bowl commercial and be completely set for what ever PPV event they had in store. There are HBO Boxing fighters that get paid more or equally as some UFC PPV headliners.
Cant be their fighters being underpaid by 20 million dollars. UFC is a single promoter, they distribute their own PPV's, and have their own sanctioning body and belts. In BOXING PPV's there are some times 2 promoters and they have to give HBO their fair share for distribution and they still pay their fighters more. The same boxing that some people say are corrupt and suck more than UFC because its not its own organization.
In the end, I think the UFC pays its fighters what it can, their PPV numbers are altered for prestige they always seek. Dana has shown this in all of his "boxing is dying, UFC is growing" remarks, hostility towards boxing, and using boxing blue prints and innovations to bring his brand and money forward.
Pecentage goes to 'shad and Rampage. Another percentage pays bonuses and the rest goes into expansion, ACs and supports PR projects, like the Fanfest they put on before the event.
You also forgot to factor in under table pay and sponsorships.
The Athletic Commissions sanction the sport, not UFC.
thats the guy who lost the main event at 114. Rampage Jackson. thats who it looks like anyways.
That's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure.
It's ironic though, all this Boxing MMA warfare and Two of the biggest stars from both sports are all lovey dovey.:luvbed:
hah, i feel bad for anyone who ordered that piece of shit card....but those are some big numbers indeed, they invest it in the company ofcourse..i think i read it in forbes that the company net worth is about 1 billion....
