The entire lineup of fighters was paid as a group $1.1mil which included the bonuses for winning...sounds kinda measly.
You guys also forget to add fight bonuses and sponsorships.
Also, what's recorded isn't the real pay. Kamipro, one of Japan's fight mags, reported that Zuffa signed Yoshihiro Akiyama to a 800k-1.2Mill. 4 fight contract. His recorded pay in his fight with Belcher at UFC 100 was 250k/250k....I think. I know Akiyama got 250K to show.
how much did brock lesnar get paid when his fight got 1.6million ppv buys
It's projected to be 3 mill if you add PPV cut and sponsorships
True, Roy Jones tried that on his PPV I think the one with Omar Sheika or was it the one with Jeff Lacy? I forgot, but he put two MMA fights as undercards and I think 2 boxing matches. First time I have ever seen that.
Vargas and Wanderlei did it first.
Lets be honest here. Maywewather Mosley had atleast 25 Mil in the pot for a guarantee. (Floyd guaranteed $20M and Mosley I'm not sure but let's say $5M which is prob a little low) Now figure in that the expected PPV buys would bring in atleast $40M (which is what JUST Mayweather was paid for the cut in the PPV buys Shane was probably paid a portion of PPV too)
So thats brings it to atleast $65Mil in the pot at minimum, Your telling me that both Shane and floyd couldn't sacrifice $5M of their collective amount for a decent undercard? Chances are there was close to or more than $100M made from the fight in the end.
The amount paid to Malignaggi and Khan was less than 2M it was approx 1.5M (1.1 to Khan and 450k to Malignaggi) and Vazquez-Marquez never got paid more than a Mil each for each one of there fights. For their first fight they were paid very little, with there purses eventually going up to about 800k (apparently)
There is no excuse for the poor undercards, How much do some of the prospects on the card get paid? My guess is about than 10k each. If we aren't going to put some decent affordable fights like Vazquez/Marquez or Khan/Malignaggi which showcases talent and raises boxings profile on one of the biggest fights of the year we could atleast put prospects in with a live opponent,
With $5M set aside for an undercard we could have had 3 Vazquez-Marquez potential fights. It can't happen for every HBO fight for obvious reasons but atleast stick prospects in with live fighters, it would increase the exposure and we might actually get a good fight out of an undercard for once.
I always felt that the money MMA fighters get, that boxing promtoers should get some big names in there.
I mean get a Boxing event with Mayweather/Pac and offer some big MMA names 250k to be on the undercard.
You would get a lot of PPV's from two fan bases. Why because they are both combat sports?
Boston Celtics vs LA Lakers with the Boston Red Sox vs NY Yankees on the under card since they are both ball sports.
im no mathematician (dont even know if i spelled it right) but if the entire ppv card costed the ufc 1.1mil, that means the 40mil (estimated) that pac/floyd would get could pay for like 4-5 YEARS of ufc ppv cards....each!
That also means that Dana White is making a shit load of money. If he get 1 million ppvs buy and he is pocketing a lot of money.

Na, that's gross too. What you see there, they have share with their manager and trainer. Dana White makes more money than the fighters and that's wrong. UFC fighters are not broke, but they're underpaid.
Ok. Had it been net it would have been easier to understand though. Since it's gross (according to you), I'd say Dana White is ripping people off. That won't continue for sure as here's bound to come other players into such a lucrative market. Economics will dictate that.
I don't think the difference is that big. Those purses are likely net while boxers purses are gross. So you'll have to deduct 30% to the manager and 20% to the trainer.
I would like to know how much money goes into a UFC PPV event and a boxing one. To see how much the fighters are getting a cut of. Also I do like getting a bonus for winning that's motivation.
I would rather have it like boxing than UFC, UFC guys are getting paid alright but they are paying for a decent job with their health long term.
The pay structure in boxing is more equitable in that everyone gets paids at the top end, in UFC is the the ownership reaping the huge rewards.
I kind of think the same, then I wake up and think they should be grateful for fighting on the undercard of such big fighters.
Look at things this way, when people do an apprenticeship they don't earn as much as the master of the trade. They work from the bottom up.

After a fighter starts earning x amount of money; why would they accept less?
DiBella called 250K a lowball offer for Caballero to fight Gamboa. Main Event fighters and promoters have to stop being so fukcing greedy.
You mean to tell me Mayweather and Mosley or Pacquiao and Clottey couldn't give a mil from their upside for a good cofeature?
