Since 2003, no one has been able to cut Vitali, bruise Vitali, consistently stagger him, or land as many flush shots as Lennox did in 6 rounds at the age of 37(292 days).

Most onseers saw Vitali as a tomato can with a lot of heart who was sticking it to Lennox Lewis. No one could forsee that this tomato can would be the next dominant Heavyweight champion in boxing.
So how do you view Lennox now after seeing what Vitali has become?
Lennox defeated the best 31 year old, prime version of Vitali, while the fighters of today struggle against the slow faded Vitali, who has lost some power. Why cant anyone repeat what Lennox did? Is the division today that bad, or was Lennox that good?

^^^Here Vitali misses the left, and looks to hold Lennox. When has Vitali ever had to hold in any fight other than sanders?
I might be alone on this opinion but i think lennox wouldve pulled out the win. I watched this fight again recently and besides klitchko receiving a third eye socket to stop the fight i wouldnt be surprised if he had gotten knocked out.
People act as if lennox was the only one winded, klit started to hold as well but as tired as LL was he still was throwing power punches and i could see vitali wearing down.
I do admit vitali was winning the fight. lennox looked sluggish as hell dam near the whole fight and i dont care how good a shape he said he was in because he wasnt, but he started connecting pretty easily in the last round, I know vitali has heart but i dont think he wouldve lasted.
Maybe it was vitali who robbed lennox of a great comeback win pero i do think ll was smart not to take the rematch because if his heart wasnt into boxing anymore then u should definetely leave the sport. just my 2 cents
calling lewis a legend shows u how much they know about boxing..legends fight they don't run into retirement.
As I have said before, people will always keep bringing forward names for you to fight until you forget your own name. Lewis had been fighting for years, since he was a teenager and didn't really need to continue. He chose the right time to retire.
You are correct-that is a perfect picture of a vicious headbutt.
I hope this is a joke...

The picture was taken at 2:23 of the 6th round after Lennox landed a quick loopy right. You can see it for a split second in my sig. That punch hurt Vitali even more than the famous uppercut. Lennox was trying to rally and Vit wrapped up immediately!
There is a punch on video that corresponds to every cut and bruise on Vitali's face. Using the term "vicious headbutt" is borderline trolling.

Garbage.
Fighters retire when they have had enough. There is no shame in retiring. Once you know you are done and you no longer need to fight for financial reasons it is best just to hang them up.
This isn't football, you can't just canter around out there for a season or two. This can literally be a life or death sport, if your heart is not 100% in it, you shouldn't be fighting.
I think it definitely adds to Lewis' credibility. In his prime Lennox was one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. Incredibly complete fighter. Had he had better opposition to fight in his best years he would be one of the greatest ever.
Can you please answer this 1 question?
http://i50.tinypic.com/15g4742.gif
^^^If Vitali is the fresher of the two, why the is he looking to hold Lennox after missing a jab? Vitali held thorughout the 6th round, but just answer this particular instance.... Why is a 31 year old man, who is supposedly winning trying to hold at all ?
That's a very silly question, if it is even a question. It is commonplace that the best time BY FAR to land punches on your opponent is when HE'S punching. You see, when punching, he leaves himself open, his gloves are away from his body and jaw which he needs to protect.
So Klitschko, who missed a punch, so left himself open, and was close enough to be hit, immediately did what any good fighter would do. He tried to get closer, to smother the return punch he was expecting. or take away it's power.
If a fighter gets close enough, he tries to clinch, which effectively stops all action, the ref breaks them amd they begin their routine again....... Q.E.D. Quod erat demonstrandum.
Anyone who critises Lewis for that fight is a sore hater. Every great champ has one last epic fight in them and that fight was one of the best heavyweight fights I have seen in recent years.
Larry Merchant said exactly the same thing.

^^^This is not the look of domination. When you are dominant, you do not have to hold for dear life, blood streaming down your face after an uppercut.
Vitali should use the score cards to wipe the blood and guts off his face, Thats all cards are good for in the event of a TKO stoppage. Read up on the sport of boxing...

truth. the nuthuggers on both sides make people forget how brutal that fight was. both guys showed more heart than anyone around here could fathom

You're such a fucking retard, Soir.
Vitali always has his mouth open when he fights. He wasn't tired you lying piece of shit.
You need to come to terms with reality.

Does he close his eyes while keeping his mouth open because he seemed to do a lot of that as well.... I back up everything I say with photographs or video evidence, you just make shit up and hope people believe it by repetition.
Lennox beat the BEST version of Vitali that night, and anyone who watched the Sosnoski and Kevin Johnson bouts can see that Vitali is no where near as fast or explosive as he was in 03.
In 2002 after the Tyson fight there was strong speculation that Lennox would retire on top after such a great win. Lennox was able to retire at age 38 because he accomplished everything he set out to do by defeating every opponent on his resume'. This list included hall of famers, top contenders, Mike Tyson and the dominant champ of the next era.
Vitali CANT retire at 38 because his resume' is absolute garbage with no hall of famers and he needs 76 wins like Foreman just to be considered top 10.
You're such a fucking retard, Soir.

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared him into retirement. That's a Fact.
Even Manny Steward was pissed off and upset at Lewis for ducking a Vitali rematch and retiring like a scared bitch.
The only FACT is that Lewis brutally stopped Vitali, and WON THE FIGHT..
Nothing you say will ever change it.
They should have checked Lennox's gloves. Something other than leather was cutting Vitali's face. I've never seen him badly cut like that in any other fight.
And the worst cut was caused by a headbutt anyway. It should have been a TD win for Vitali, since he was ahead on all three scorecards.
bhahahahahahahahah

Have you ever been in the ring ?.
He retired a healthy man with plenty of money and all you can do is try to bring him down by calling one of the best HW ever a "scared bitch" because he beat your hero.
Soir is definitely the one that needs to come to term with reality. :thumbsdow

I believe you need to come to terms as well. They did fight once and Vitali lost. Some guys don't even get one chance but your guy Vitali had his chance. It was a good fight but Vitali lost.
As for you saying that your guy was leading 4 rounds to 2 ......... In a fight you can win 11 rounds (14 in the old days) and still lose. That's the beauty of boxing.
That bum Kevin Johnson cut Vitali didnt he? Pretty sure he did.
In twice the amount of rounds KJ caused a small cut but nothing close to the severity of what Lennox did. Weve seen nothing close before or since.

A prime 31 year old man completely out of breath. LL really did a number on him.
Lewis was coming off the biggest win of his career, the KO win over Tyson. In the Lewis/Tyson post fight interview Lewis stated "I'm like fine wine, I get better with age."
Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.
After and before the fight Vitali said that he was in the best shape of his hole career.
So if you believe what LL says you have to believe what VK says too.
Unless you think VK is a liar eh?

Since the fight with the old Lennox Vitali mostl:twak: foguht fat ****s like Williams, Peter or Arreola it is not hard to dominate theese guys if you got decent skills and are in good shape.
Vitali is neither a tomato can nor an ATG he is just a guy with decent skill and great work ethic in an era where most great athletes prefer to be a basktball or football star and the heavyweight divison is full with fat ****s like Peter or Arreola or small guys like Chambers.
