..WHO WON: Abner Mares - Yonnhy Perez...

i think we can all agree that mares swept the championship rounds 3-0.

The Champ should have won because he made the fight happen, for the most part. The champ is not suppose to chase you, you're supposed to make the fight happen. They took away Dirrell's win from Froch, which I still think is a robbery, because the champ Carl Froch chased Dirrell for most of the fight and made the fight happen. Those who think Mares won should stay consistent and also say Dirrell beat Froch. I see some names who voted for Mares but didn't think Dirrell won. SMH. Also, I thought Perez did way more than Froch so I actually have a good excuse as to why I thought Dirrell won his fight and Perez won his fight. Perez actually made the fight happen while Froch was chasing but getting tagged all night.

I thought Mares edged it but a draw is fine by me. Mares will def win a rematch.

Mares won He out-landed him by over a 100 punches and clearly won the last 4 rounds. Also, had him in obvious distress several times in that span. You could easily give Mares 7 clear rounds. But with the rounds Perez won, some were debatable. Clear robbery. Slob Shaw stacked the deck in this one.

I had it a draw. I gave each guy what I thought was a very close round, so I can see a close decision for either guy if you didn't have it a draw.

Though I agree that the draw was fair enough, I'm sure plenty of people had the fight for one fighter or the other. Regardless, if you HAD TO PICK A WINNER, who would it be? Poll. Discuss. i thought mares won. so did my dad who also watched the fight. that said , my dad and i have no problem with it being a draw. just do an immediate rematch , mares knocks him out i think.

Was that rude that the fans would boo Mares when he boxed and used the ring? Why do some fans try to stereotype the mexican fighting style as being an idiot and having no regards for defense and constantly pressuring in the fight? It was a little odd actually because atleast once, maybe twice the crowd started booing and they were in the middle of some brutal exchanges, so IDK, weird. Also, did anyone else notice when they were showing the celebrities in the crowd - that alot of fans booed ODLH? I thought that was a bit strange, being in L.A. and all.... what was up with that?

I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that the first three rounds were brutal. They went expecting to see a great fight in the main event. When they got spoiled in those first frames, it was rather natural that they expected a war throughout. Some fans just like the stereotypical Mexican brawler. Mares, luckily for himself, isn't just that. He has decent skills overall and can get it done on the outside and on the inside. Does he have flaws? Yes. But one of those flaws is not his fighting spirit.

I definetly think mares did more than enough to win the fight but the decision wasn't all that bad. I had it 7-5 for abner mares.

Perez is such a ballsy fighter, and that's why he is in my top ten most liked fighters. I liked him going into this fight and viewed Mares as the guy with something to prove. But this was Abner's night and he got shorted by the judges when he deserved to win.

I think a draw was the right decision, I'm shocked no one got KO'd to make a final statement since both fighters landed bombs on each other at times. I guess it shows they both have chins.
